It is almost at the point where we will be damned if we do type of thing given what it would cost in draft picks to get him. We are just not in a premiership window atm and we still have a lot of holes in our list and issues to address. I just can't see us contending in the short-term under Scott unless something out of left field happens like a Richmondesque lurch from rubbish to good overnight with basically the same game plan.

He is 24, this is his 6th year at GWS, he will be a restricted free agent in 2021 after 8 years and be 26 years old, for what it would cost to get him, it might be just better to see him re-sign for another 2 years and then offer him a massive free agency contract if we are going to be in a position to contend in 2+ years.

The risk is that GWS will try to offer a longer term contract. However, if his manager is as big a mercenary as he seems to be, he would be reluctant to go beyond 2 years as he should expect a massive free agency offer in two years that should see him to retirement.

AFL to tick off a player option contract (which isn't allowed) in regards to Josh.

Two year deal, and at a point in year two, Kelly can activate the six year option.

Laughable.

He's coming home.

How is this legal? what’s point of rules in the afl?

Why are yo complaining mate? WHY do you think this clause has been put in place? Use your noggin.;)

What would the benefit be in that? Is it about hiding the salary within the cap?

To give the illusion that he's in control.

And if he doesn't activate, then they can actively plan for life without him.

To keep the media away from making Josh's future a massive story and distraction.

My guess is that the trigger clause will be on October 1 2021.;)

An organisation run by amateurs. Bend the rules for Martin to resign break it for Kelly to stay. Corruption.

Speaking of Dusty, amazingly his Puma contract has been torn up only 18 months into a four year deal....

Paid out, no doubt.

Now they're magically in to De Goey. Another bloke that stayed for "massive unders"

If anyone wants proof why bottoming out makes zero sense, look no further.
We are now so bad that there is ZERO chance of Kelly coming. That’s a fact. We could offer him $3mil per year over 5 years and he still won’t come. Sure, Joyce and co. will be on half a mongrel thinking the club is about to land a big fish when Josh says, “Sounds good”. But him and his manager aren’t idiots. They’re not going to buy a ticket for The Hindenburg.

So yeah, the notion of bottoming out thinking that high draft picks guarantee sustained success is a nonsense. Pick 7 or pick 1? History says no real difference.

Not to mention the losing mentality of bottoming out and the long term harm that can do to a playing group.

I’m not quite sure about that

Heard on the radio the other day, that he would no longer wear Puma boots, because he didn’t feel comfortable in any of them..
He found Nike more comfortable, lol
So I think this is where it all stems from
