It seems most people think he would have been deserving of the Normie in a losing side and it's hard to disagree. Put the Swans on his back yesterday, as he always seems to do in big games, and they were in it as long as they were thanks to him. Bit of a legend.

BOG by a mile at half time in the GF but faded a bit in the 2nd half.

Still would have been a worthy Norm Smith winner.

Wish we didn't let him go.

Non that play Essendon
Just to show everyone how good we are. We gave Buddy and Kennedy away, played Spangher and Schoenmakers, and still threepeated. Next year we'll even take on Vickery, talk about epic trolling...
The Hawks have arguable played better since Buddy went to Sydney, sure he would have been useful this year without Roughtie.

Why did the Hawks let him go or did he want out?
In 2012 we had Mitchell, Hodge, Lewis, Sewell and Burgoyne at the height of their powers. With the exception of Burgoyne it's a very one paced midfield.

No way a young, inconsistent JPK was going to fit in there atleast not for a while. Wish he did but you can't win them all.

Got offered more cash, safer longer contract and a best 22 spot. Too good to refuse even for Hawthorn royalty.

Love to have him back now but he's making his own history.

By 2012 JPK was putting out a season better than Lewis and Sewell's career best. Was not Hawthorn's fault losing him when they did and im sure the fans will cope with the three premierships from that playing group since juat fine.

Unbelievable player. Genuinely felt for him after the game. Been in the top handful of mids in the comp for a fair while now, doesn't get anywhere near enough credit.

Is a freak and was the best player on the park. It seems to win the Norm Smith in a losing side, you need to be the best player by a mile. If there are others from the winning side who's games were a little bit behind, they'll win it.

Meant to write 2010. 3am got the better of me :p

If we knew he would have been as good as he was in 2012 we would have definitely kept him. Mistake in hindsight for sure but it's hard to know these things.

All the credit to him. Went from a chubby kid at Hawthorn to a beast at Sydney. The move put a rocket up his arse for sure.

Just an excellent player really, the best in fact, sure his dinky handballs miss targets or put teammates under pressure, and yes he can flub kicks, but his attack on the ball is second to none and he leads from the front better than anyone through sheer weight of impact. I guess I had just assumed he was the Swans captain for the last three years because I was quite surprised to learn it was some guys who go missing a lot. Josh P. is the real Demolition Man, first picked in a modern side for me.

Hawks didn't have much of a choice. The Hawks midfield was saturated and there were other areas we needed to concentrate on, ruck, tall defender, etc. And, as usual, Sydney were able to offer more than we could. You can't keep everyone.

Should have been Norm Smith, JJ missed too many targets early on while JK was on fire.

Dangerfield or Kennedy? Kennedy every time. Danger moves himself forward; Kennedy moves the team forward

Kennedy every day of the week

He was averaging 40 touches in the VFL and still struggled to get a game, don't think the Hawks handled him very well.

He deserves better teammates. I mean how many times can Hannebury say this finals loss will spurr us on?
Totally agreed and posted similar on the Swans board. We heard comments like that after 2014 and in reality they mean nothing. Hopefully the players just shut up this time, words are cheap, it's the actions that count.

As to Kennedy himself, I love the guy. Consistently performs at the elite level for us, particularly in big games when others go missing. Many Swans supporters want him to be our captain but I read somewhere a season or two ago that he said that he didn't think he'd be very good at it and wanted to concentrate on his performances.

Played the last 9 games of the year in his last season at Hawthorn (2009).

Agree we didn't handle him well.

Should have kept him over Sewell in hindsight.
