Evidence enough for the AFL to give us a fair crack of the whip when it comes to travel, both distance and frequency.

Seriously we need to be pushing the barrow for equalisation of conditions across the league. For example; all teams need to travel interstate 8 times each year, meaning they have 14 games in their home state.

Collingwood has what, 18 games at the MCG each season? So no-one can complain about the Eagles and Dockers having 13 "home' games and one "away" (derby) at Optus each year.

Wanted to bring this up, but didn’t want to bump the Kennedy Waterman thread as for me it’s Brander that needs discussing.

What shall we do next year? JK’s performances as the year has gone on have been very concerning. We chose to take Brander and Allen, not one of them and Kelly, and as such we can’t simply allow the development of Brander to stagnate with the occasional game and playing wing in the WAFL.

Tough one, I think JK starts next year because that's the kind of club we are but then realises he's not up to it and retires before the mid-season draft.
I would like to see a forward line/ruck combo of Allen, Darling, Brander, Williams and Nic Nat at some point next year.

To be fair would playing on Gorter really have helped him prepare for life as an AFL key forward?
Still trying to process what type of recruiting team takes Gorter over Kelly.

Don’t have a problem starting him next year, he took 1 of the 2 main defenders away this year and still kicked enough goals to keep his spot.

That's such a strange and bullshit argument in my eyes. Why do people think taking the best defender and then being a liability is a win?

"He takes the best defender..." and then struggles to have an impact on the game, struggles to put any pressure once the ball hits the deck, struggles to bring the ball to ground..

That's all good is it? Play Brander and he can also struggle to do all of that if you want, at least he'd be playing and could show us how talented he is.

I'm aware it "frees up Darling" but I'd argue Darling vs the best defender would still be more favourable to us then Kennedy getting trounced.

Will Brander kick the 49 goals from 22 games that Kennedy kicked this year? Nope. But we have to weigh up what else he will add and pull the trigger at some point.

Not directed at you Dugg, but many.

Kennedy battled with Achilles soreness all year. Get himself right over the offseasons and he will be very dangerous. Loom what he achieved not being able to train and hardly able to run? People are far too quick to write off a champion.

As for Brander, I think it's time to move Schofield on and play one of him or Allen forward and the other back. He is still young so has a lot of potential. Kennedy didn't start monstering until he was 25.

when you risk losing Oscar Allen in a draft in order to take a very good KPP, but then choose to spend years developing him as an average wingman

I get where you're coming from, I just think it's premature to push Kennedy out now. Our window is still wide open for 2020, and we're arguably the only team with 2 genuine KPF who can kick 50+ goals a year.

Ultimately, if Kennedy continues a downward spiral in the first few rounds, I'll be next in line calling for him to be dropped.

I think it’s laughable suggesting Brander, Allen, Waterman etc can take JK spot until they are better than him.
This obsession with putting youth in the side that are not ready is why so many AFL clubs fail.
Now if we were a bottom club in a rebuild there is merit in it, but we are still well in a window and playing players for the sake of the future is stupid. Just pick your very best 22 every week, Brander and co need to chop it up in the WAFL and bang the door down before they are kicking JK out of the side. When they do that then all good and we’ll get them in.

I hope he has carried an injury this year because he is a shadow of his former self. Was watching the WCE v MELB final the other day. F**** ME sideways, the decline is astonishing.like comparing a 23yo vs a 50yo player. His reaction speed is gone. That's the most worrying.

I know what you are saying but then you get to the extreme of Freo falling off a cliff 6 or so years ago

I am not saying just leave Jk there forever but surely you have earn your spot and just being on the list is not earning your spot. If Brander as an example is being penciled is as his replacement then he needs to be played at FF in the WAFL and start to average 5 goals a game, put defensive pressure on and make it impossible to not play him.
JK not going as bad as some reckon on here, when we get killed in contested possession and struggle to get inside 50’s like last night it’s bloody hard for the forwards, add to that some pretty average delivery at times.
I think he has a bit to offer still.
