If he has snapped the plantar tendon that will have stability and muscular ramifications down the track, not good from memory:confused:

**** me, this is awful if true:eek::(

Seems an over reaction.

Often the tendon ruptures without the attendant inflammation beforehand, that he has had for a few weeks.

I ruptured my plantar tendon playing basketball and was back in 10 days and I was almost 40 when I did it.

Not a big deal and no long term damage.

Or am I missing something?

There is a difference in snapping the tendon and actual fasciaitis (however its spelled):rolleyes: The fascia is the covering of the tendon and gets inflamed. Snapping the tendon I thought was real bad. Now im doubting my self.
Now, I'm just confused :eek::)

From memory that's one of those tendons we no longer use, so snapping it will actually remove the discomfort while having no functional draw back, apart from the short term inflamation.

Yup - my thoughts as well.

A bit like the appendix - no major drama not having it.

From memory that was the tendon Robert Harvey tried to snap at home.

Snapping it is probably the best result to be honest. Should be cherry ripe for Round 1 with no further complications throughout the season.

I think, as stated by those above its more or less a non-issue cos it's a useless tendon. In my case the concern initially was that I ruptured by Achilles tendon but once it was confirmed that it was the plantar, then the doctor seemed pretty relaxed. Ice, rest and back without any other discomfort within a week or so ...

He was seen in a medical centre in Perth yesterday on crutches and in a moon boot. I'm guessing he went the Robert Harvey option and tried to snap if on purpose. Should be right for round one still I'd tip, though he'll be underdone.
