I have only come across hawthorn fans who had this "we were born to rule" mentality and most thought the GF was theirs this year. The only time i have heard the swans being praised was by Hodge and Clarkson after the game.

Most hawk fans on here gave the swans a backhanded compliment. Sure we won but it was more about them losing than us winning the way we did.

Anyway no one is going to take away the joy of this years flag..made even sweeter by the fact that melbourne footy experts got it ever so wrong all year about the swans - again.

You should meet / read more Hawk fans. The vast majority have made me proud the way they copped our GF loss on the chin, gave credit to Sydney because they deserved to win, and generally acted in good grace.

There has been some complaints about how Swans can afford Tippett, but that was a separate issue.

Of course there is a small minority who may have whinged about scheduling and AFL conspiracies and whatever but all clubs have some fans who are too one-eyed to be credible. If the only Hawk fans you come across have a "born-to-rule" attitude then I suspect Jeff Kennett is probably the only Hawk fan you know. And please believe me - we are not all like Jeff!

Also, I totally agree with your last paragraph. It should not matter what anyone says - you won and you should enjoy it! That is exactly how I felt after 2008. Nobody else's whingeing should ever take away the joy ofa premiership flag.

What I find interesting in all this is the lack of media hype/exposure Josh Kennedy has received for his "out of contract status".

Travis Cloke was on the receiving end all year.

Ditto Brendon Goddard.

The year before that Callan Ward, Tom Scully, Magpie trio of Swan, Pendles, Daisy and a host of other stars were constantly in the press on a daily basis.

Yet, Josh Kennedy- after an AA year, Brownlow fancy, Norm Smith fancy and genuine star of the competition now has received no press whatsoever about his contract status.

Rather fascinating.

It's called 'Under the Radar' syndrome! It recruits players, signs contracts & wins p'ships by stealth!

It's where the opposition is seduced into believing they are far superior for one reason or another. It's underestimating your opponent or enemy!

You let them believe they are better for a period of time & then..............................WHAMO! The premiership is in the cabinet..........................taken from right under your opponents' noses & you walk the cup right past them & they can't do anything about it but.........................yes you guessed it............................continue to think that they are better & superior..........& so the process continues.

We do it with our players..................we hide them away 'Under the Radar'........they are mostly pretty happy with things meaning they don't get their managers to test the waters ala Cloke & Tippett.
Note how player managers & rumours more often than not, use the Swans as a barganing tool whether we are actually involved or not. The media have no idea what goes on at the Swans because we keep things quiet.

In regards to Kennedy though, he's just a 'good ordinary player';) that gets the job done otherwise he would still be in Hawk colours. He is a result of the Swans system that gets the most out of it's players & Josh has come out & said that he is in love with the club & evrything about it. When Roosy interviewed him after the GF, he pretty much thanked Roos for seeing something in him & bringing him to the Swans. As long as Josh wants to be a part of our club, I'm sure that he will stay & be well looked after.
Opposition supporters don't watch much about the Swans because if they did, they will see just how happy our players are to be at the club.
When one wants to move on we pretty much honour it with dignity where both parties are realistic. Ryan O'Keefe being one example a few years ago that didn'y quite work out so he stayed & we 'punished' him by winning another premiership!

So whether Josh Kennedy is signed or not at this point, it's irrelevant because he loves the club.

You don't beat Sydney for players with more money. They have a bigger salary cap, when was the last player that was squeezed out for salary cap issues from Sydney?

We lost Schneider and Dempster for this reason. if it we're me i would"ve de-listed Luke Ablett, Ben Mathews rather than losing those guys, but thats the way it went

lol then why is thread still going?

Can we get confirmation on that and then close the thread?
A regular, long-standing poster on a non-BF Swans board reports that he asked Kennedy face to face about his supposedly out-of-contract status last Friday at the Swans' B&F dinner, and that Kennedy looked very confused at the concept he was out-of-contract.

Kennedy is worth more to Sydney than any other club.

With the stoppage centric style of game Sydney play it really brings out the best in him and there is no player more critical to their success than Kennedy.

He led the competion this year in both clearances and contested possessions (the two most important stats for an inside midfielder) and to Sydney would be worth picks 1+2 in any draft even if he isn't worth that to anyone else.

It's not in his best interests to leave Sydney, as exciting as the prospect of him leaving would be to the rest of us.

No doubt his contract was extended some time ago just a shame the Swans didn't feel a need to let anyone in on that knowledge

No trade whispers at all coming from Sydney re: Kennedy.

As the Mod above stated, there is little doubt he has in-fact signed a contract some time ago.

Good idea to close the thread for the time being I think.
