They say Benny was from Darwin and though he did come to South from St Marys, I always remember him being from WA, maybe a bit more north than Yalgoo but up that way. Then again could just be my memory trying to fill in the bits alcohol has forever taken. Anyway, dead ringer.

Yep, Benny could play a bit.

All we need now are covers with Basil Campbell & Sebbie Rioli.

+1 for everything said above (particularly the Benny bits). Ranking alongside Steve Gerrard's reaction after the Liverpool/Man City game this morning for Feel Good Moment Of The Year to date. One happy Tongan!

Well, I'll eat my hat. The boy performed well. I did give out about him last season for a lot of his slacker moments. However, it looks like he has turned himself around. The stats were good for him, but the telling thing was the way he smiled, was happy to set blokes up for goal, and the way he actually wanted to be there. He may play a lot more WAFL this year, but hell, he'll also play some games for Fremantle too. Future star, this guy. He doesn't mind getting hit hard, and hitting hard, and he has a clean set of hands. Just what we need.

Hey guys and girls. We got an absolute ripper here in the making. This guy will be the full package. Quite a lot like Lewis Jetta with even better evasive skills. The guy will be a jet and very entertaining for a long time to come. Great game from Joshy. 5 tackles and good ones too. He's a tackling machine! Stoked for the guy. This will certainly give him more incentive too. Get 50 games into him and look out opposition. He will be breathtaking. Great pickup

Would love to see a little highlights reel of Josh's game yesterday if anyone has the time/skill/whatnot...

Haven't you got one in your head Tonga Bob ??:p
I've replayed mine about 20x already!:D:D
True but my attention span is as big as hey look there's a cloud in the sky that looks like a meat pie!

I was also really impressed with his tackling given that one of his apparent deficiencies was his physicality. Great effort from a guy in his 2nd game.

He fired one off in the last quarter that caught the target (Pearce?) by surprise it was so fast.

Clarke I believe. Clarke had just turned around to start running forward and the ball shot back at him almost before he knew it was there.

I knew Josh could run and kick, but his tackling and defensive pressure have come up to AFL class a lot quicker than I expected, and his vision and handspeed in contested/ground ball situations is probably the biggest surprise. He keeps doing it too... did it over and over in the Peel games I saw on TV and did the same on a number of occasions in the Dons game. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he turns out to be one of our best at this, based on what I've seen so far (small sample, but I'll take liberties :)).

Kid has more weapons than I realised. Really happy for him and his family. Terrific debut, and really looked like he enjoyed it.

I suppose the BIG question is , Will he keep his spot?
Hopefully so. One of the tests for him will be bringing that form to an away game. It's well and good to play well at home in front of an adoring crowd. It's a different thing playing in front of a Pies, Cats, Hawks or Tigers home game.

what's his kicking like? long, penetrating? seemed to be really good off both sides in his u18s video but obviously too hard to tell based on his first proper hit out. can anyone who goes down to training give us an insight?

I don't remember him attempting any long kicks, he always looked to be trying to pinpoint a pass when he did kick it.

Sorry Subes but TYF is going to need your #8 jumper, BF Freo board decrees it. You'll be fine with #14.

Club profile has TYF at 184 cms and 73 kgs. Once he gets closer to 80 kgs and with his speed, leap and evasiveness he'll be a huge handful as a small forward.
