Exactly ,
Bondy should understand how small Perth is when it comes to news and happenings ,he has lived here long enough to realize how quick the media and SOCIAL Media in particular gets hold of a story .

I think Bondy somehow thought he could hide the truth and no one would find out , "VERY DUMB IDEA " .
The problem now is Bonds credibility with the media . He may have just lost his job if he acted alone .

So the fallout could go very deep and not just Josh with a please explain note in his hand when RTB gets back into town with the 2 Steve's .
The problems at Fremantle are coming to the surface just in the last 6 months IMHO .

The Club when it was just hanging in there and lower on the table with so,so membership numbers and little publicity really didn't have to do that much .
The finals series and the growth in membership numbers has put a strain on all the personal involved at the Club and the strain is showing .
Bondy and the rest of the media group better get wise very quickly or they will be over run by hard hitting Jurno's that smell blood in the water and go for it .

I would hate to find out that the Flash has or is left to hang out to dry by our inept media department .
I don't think it would happen on purpose but these things have been known to happen .

Josh will need some serious back up because the jurno's would be gathering as we type .
I'll make a bet right now some young jurno is on his way to Yalgoo to interview family members and friends of Josh for the news department special report .
then there will be the cross to the reporter at Simpsons front door trying to get him to make a statement.

Bondy is one of the most professional performers in the media and has not been one to panic or to lose it in the past. His first statement "May" have been a mistake but he has a hell of a lot of credits in the bank for mine!

Time to concentrate on the game at hand, the Josh situation will be sorted next week.

No he doesn't, ahem.

To be fair on Jack_the_Ninja his intentions were honourable, ignorance was his problem.

It's a harsh world for people of minority, too much prejudice is lightly flung around, and in general assumptions are made abut people just based on the way they look or their social backgrounds.

That is absolutely true, but in the context of a footy club it can't be used as an excuse either. You can't just not rock up to the airport without telling anyone and expect to be let off the hook. If you can't toe the line, then you're making the choice that you don't want to be an AFL footballer, irrespective of your background. Especially when it's your 2nd year on the list and you would know the rules.

In saying all of that, we should probably wait and see what the problem is first.

That's the whole point though, you can't trust anything Bond says about this issue in the media because Simpson was quite clearly expected to be on the flight, at least according to the airport staff.

I don't understand.

If you are booked for a flight and you don't turn up they will still page you over the PA.

I reckon the issue is more the fact that he is a player from a regional area more so the fact than he is Aboriginal. Anyone from an economically deprived area in the outback is going to struggle!

The media needs not too turn this into a race issue but one of economic disparity between the regions.

Exactly, which is what happened.

But Bond claimed he was never booked on the flight in the first place because of some issue earlier in the week. So he was caught out lying in this instance, and now the media are rightly speculating why he felt the need to lie.

My 2 cents.
Simpson is from a very small town and is unbelievably talented, he's probably been first picked for everything in his whole life. Last week he was an absolute high after contributing in his 'first' game. Everybody around him, media, teammates, friends, family, would have heaped praise on him for his game and how he would be playing next week etc. etc.
Thursday morning comes and Mayne unexpectantly passes a fitness test. Simpson gets the call that he is emergency. He cracks the St!ts. Probabaly the first time in his life that this has happened (being dropped). He obviously doesn't know how to handle it.
Next week with the club around him (team mates, mentors) he will be given some good advice and this will be a great learning curve for the young man.

I'd rather Simpson out there based on his game so far. We need some class out there at present.

Ross is an impressive guy. Handled the sensitivity about Josh brilliantly. If anyone can turn Josh into a player with the discipline and attitude of Walters or Johnson, Ross can.

Good on Ross for putting everything out there :thumbsu:. I reckon Josh will come good but it will take time and maturity.

Hopefully he grows from this because he has done the club wrong right when he was in contention.

As others have said, if Simpson's heart is in an AFL career, he will learn from this moment. A bitter reality for him as that given how the team played today, if he had caught the plane, he would be a very likely 'in' for next week. Now, however, the likelihood of him playing next week seems more remote than Yalgoo...

lazy little shit, needs a kick up the pants from his team mates.
If he sooks it because he Dosnt get picked??
He didn't actually set the world on fire last week.
Not a team player in my opinion and talk about reinforcing stereotypes.
At least we don't have Murray Newman ))

There you go, I actually agree with you.

And yes, I couldn't have asked more from Lyon in his explanation, his understanding AND his compassion with a young fella who comes from a place that THE VERY VAST MAJORITY OF YOU, would know sweet f*** all about.

SWEET F*** ALL AT ALL!!

Typical and right on cue.

Needs to be said - Harden up you little brat. You have two kids, is that the message you want to send them? When the going get tough, just walk away. Seriously that's soft, that's embarrassing to read. You did nothing last year, played two good WAFL games and got given an AFL match and you think you have the right to spit the dummy. Toughed up Simpson.
