I'd argue that it's more important that they are mentally ready. To me the biggest risk of playing kids too early is that it can destroy their confidence, which is a prerequisite to succeeding in everything.

I think he should come in this week for Blair in the forward line at forward pocket. Better height, pace, tackling and kicking. Would address some our lack of forward pressure, especially if Varcoe doesn't make an appearance and even if Varcoe is in I'd still play Smith.

not an advocate of this, he isnt a forward pocket. Bloke is a running wingman/Mid. It'd be like Kyle Martin all over again, kill it in the ressies as a mid and be asked to come in as a small forward, underperform, and get dropped. If he comes in he should be playing his natural position IMO
