WC making the same mistake that we did, being seduced by his endurance and work ethic without taking in to account he’s incapable of playing attacking football.
So another Kyle Martin

He’s really just cheap depth; that’s all they probably doing, getting some cheap conveyance in case required.WC making the same mistake that we did, being seduced by his endurance and work ethic without taking in to account he’s incapable of playing attacking football.
Kyle wasn’t really keen enough to want to be a league footballer, Smith certainly is keen to be a league player. So another Kyle Martin

A cross between Kyle Martin and Josh Smith would be interesting...Kyle Martin just didn't have the drive IMO. Smith is the opposite, all drive but lacks the talent. Good luck to him though, always like seeing those kind of players make it.

The good bits.Wait, does the crossover get the good bits or the bad bits? Because the good bits together we've seen, they get drafted first round... and the bad bits together we've also seen (and sometimes they also get drafted first round, lol).
Uh, what? Kyle Martin was the polar opposite. Had talent to burn but didn’t want to put in the hard yards. So another Kyle Martin
And ours isn’t? We had the highest disposal numbers in the league last year, about 10% more than WC on average. If holding up play and being so afraid of turning the ball over that you’re incapable of kicking forwards suits WC game style I’ll eat my hat. It's more than that. Smith suits the WC style of football which is possession based. He has more value to them than us because his playing qualities suit them.

I assume he meant good players.Prior to the draft I was worried that giving up pick 57 for the Beams deal was going to affect our ability to match for Quaynor and Kelly without going into deficit.
Given Brisbane's list manager said they feel their list is at a point where they want players over draft picks, I wonder if we should have offered up Smith given he is a Queenslander, over pick 57? I'd say he's about worth a pick 57 anyway.
Obviously it doesn't matter because we ended up matching without going into deficit, but had we kept pick 57 we would have had a few extra points after matching that we could have considered someone a bit higher than Atu. But of course that's not to say Atu is necessarily a bad choice at all, just seems more speculative at that end of the draft.
Sure, but I would have thought Smith would fit into the high pressure gameplan Brisbane is developing. But I don't really know how Noah Answerth played in draft footy.I assume he meant good players.
High pressure is the exact style Smith doesn’t fit in. He’s slow and has no defensive nouse or hardness. In saying that I don’t think they’re are any game styles that suit Smith anyways.Sure, but I would have thought Smith would fit into the high pressure gameplan Brisbane is developing. I think by that point in the trade period, Brisbane pretty much conceeded it was too late to get a player considering they would have to consent and then go through medicals etc. In any case, Josh got to where he wanted, Brisbane got what they wanted, and so did we.Prior to the draft I was worried that giving up pick 57 for the Beams deal was going to affect our ability to match for Quaynor and Kelly without going into deficit.

True point Jen, although the only thing I would say is I don't think Josh really wanted to go the Eagles as such.I think by that point in the trade period, Brisbane pretty much conceeded it was too late to get a player considering they would have to consent and then go through medicals etc. In any case, Josh got to where he wanted, Brisbane got what they wanted, and so did we.
Where do you think he wanted to go? I actually thought he was going to sign with Gold Coast. He did fly over there and did a medical, so this WC did throw me a bit. He probably didn't care at that point. As a delisted footballer, you're looking for any opportunity no matter where it is.True point Jen, although the only thing I would say is I don't think Josh really wanted to go the Eagles as such.
