He's apparently a week away from being ready to play, i would assume on current form, he would need to push through BHH to get a gig with the Hawks though, as not too many players deserve to be dropped on current form. :thumbsu:

i heard clarko wouldnt play him because he had red hair and so organised him to be left behind in new zealand. he's still there and lives with monkeys who love him more than his mother did.

Mail is that the Orange Roughie is a week away from returning, but he would struggle to break in to our lineup at present - there are too many players in his position who are ahead of him. He'll have to earn his recall through the VFL.

A shame that, as he put in a stellar effort last year, if only for a short appearance.

Would the same apply for John Barker, or would he be fast tracked into a game?

Few weeks at Box Hill and straight back in if it were up to me. Hell, if we're playing Dawson, then this guy is a sure thing..

I see the Orange Roughie as a flanker/third tall defender. Clarkson has painted himself into a corner over Dawson, and I struggle to see Clarkson dropping him in the near future to fit Thurgood into the side. There are just too many players like Thurgood that are ahead of him at the minute. Things can change, though. It would be nice to see him in a winning side, only because every game he's played so far, he's not been able to sing the song after the match.

The opposite, I think. He would be tested at Box Hill for a few weeks before coming into the side. He needs to prove match fitness and you don't do that in the AFL, because if he falls over, then our structure is shot and we play a man down for the rest of the game.

Remember a few games last year where he was played deep forward?

Could see him in the secondary f/f role, kind of like Chick used to do. A marking option but also a fierce will to chase and lock the ball into the foward line.

Or maybe just a very handy utility type who could just slot in on a needs fit basis from week to week.

Tend to agree Grendel.

I think it was against the Kangeroos where he started forward and threw the Roos defence out a little early, and created some opportunities. His pace is pretty good so he could even potentially play as a winger.

He's tall, decent pace, aggressive and there is just something about him.

Definately worth sticking with and getting some strength into him.

It wouldn't bother me at all to have him play the majority at Box Hill and have a few games towards the end of the year looking towards a big 2007.
