Josh has one advantage that Gardener will never make up. SIZE. He cannot be pushed off it.Darcy play on bigger blokes every week.

Obviously Adams (the same age as Josh) was earmarked to take the second tall so Darcy could take a smaller forward but I think, unfortunately, Adams may be a blow out.

Josh is a free agent after this year so we could get him back!!!!!!!!!

Walker given votes again by North people over on their board. Gardener, one of my favourite players, looked too small a few times against North. Walker, playing for us. would not have given away those frees because of his size and Gardener could play on a smaller player.

In the Lions games I’ve seen this season they look a little vulnerable down back and an extra tall who is capable of taking a contested mark would be helpful. It seems like a surprising decision in hindsight.
But he has been very good for us and deserves the extension. Wouldn’t be surprised if he finishes near the pointy end of the Syd.

Congrats Josh.
Really like this guy. Good result and well done to Josh and those who brought him to North.
A great pickup which we got for free in the peak of his career. Has 3 or more good years left in him to.
Deep down I've really considered Josh a stop gap and depth player. I've been really pleased (and a little surprised) with his skill level and performance. I'm only now opening up to the fact he could be on the list for a while (for good reason of course). Also thought he was a bit older. Only 27y.o., nearly 4 years younger than taz. Good work Josh.
Did I hear correctly that he has taken the most contested marks out of all backman in league this year? If so, it is quite an achievement!!
Absolutely wrapped with his year so far. He should be top 6 in the BnF.
I would’ve given him an extra 2 years. Very reliable.
Easily the best contested mark at the club.
Ranked 7th league wide for contested marks...not bad for a player who career was at the crossroads at the start of the year.
Marc McGowan got "good" addition wrong.

He's been a bloody brilliant steal imo!
Plenty more over on the North site BUT we would have been better placed ,since we did not rate him at all, not gifting Josh and Adams games and played the kids.

Difference between the top side and the second bottom side.

Can anyone who poo pooed him think a bit?;)

You were doing so well until you decided to insult people because they dare to have a different opinion to you.

Yep the guy who got towelled up by Taylor Walker and is North's 3rd best key back or key forward

North has been horrible all year, so Walker playing well won’t surprise anyone because their team can’t kick, pass or handball without making a mistake. Just because he looks good in a horrible team doesn’t mean we should have kept him and doesn’t mean he would’ve done anything for us this season.

Unlike yourself I have not called out anyone specifically. As a moderator should you not say such things? I have not said anything derogatory about anyone at all except to suggest that, with the passage of time and with more evidence opinions may change. No one should be insulted or challenged by anything I have said.

On a fan site differences of opinions are what makes the site worth being on. If you don't want to read thinks about a player don't get on the thread.

Personal denigration of a poster by a moderator is something that should not be encouraged.

I agree that personal denigration of a poster is something that should not be encouraged, by a moderator or anyone. Given the nature of your response, I'm curious to see where you think the personal denigration is in my post.

You told anyone who disagreed with you to "think a bit". Apparently everyone will thinks would agree with you? Anyone who still disagrees with you were and are not thinking? That is insulting, though not to a particularly high degree (hence the reply pointing it out rather than a more heavy handed approach).

FWIW I still remember Walker's defensive issues last year. I remember players getting uncontested marks because Walker got distracted ball watching. My opinion of his limitations hasn't changed because as far as I've seen in North games, those limitations remain. He's now playing a role better suited to his talents, but it's one we don't have in our defence.

I'd rather have him than Adams at the moment because one can get on the park, but I'd rather have Payne than both now and rather have Lester than Walker this year because we need that better defence than the intercepting under normal (non-Harris injury) circumstances.

Josh Walker finished 7th in North's Best and Fairest.

He got knocked out in one game early and played up forward in several others where he played as well as any Brissie supporter could have predicted.

Down back he looked most competent, gaining the respect of everyone over on the North board and had he played down back all season he would have finished higher.

Not only do good players want to come to Brissie now but good players will be forced to leave in the next few years,

Congratulations are due to a bloke who was a popular bloke around our club.

Three-club veteran Josh Walker quietly announces AFL retirement: ‘No more diets and skin folds’

The 30-year-old missed just seven games over the past three seasons.

Handy player during some tough years. Remember his great mark and kick to Rayner who took arguably an even better mark.
