I thought Stringer and Simpkin, when he came on looked good all the same.

But we are missing that versitile tall option, that's what really stands out to me.

Thats West but he is a bit busy elsewhere atm.

I would like to see Pods freshened up (rested) and Brown brought in for the next game. A lot of people have dropped off him after last game but he is still a fair bet to be a very good player. Like the rookies he needs game time this year too.

He will be when he adds 10 kgs to his weight.

Hard to see where he fits in to be honest. Taylor's back and there's no reason we should drop Brown for Walker. If he plays it would have to be because we've dropped one of the ruckmen. Possibly if Pods doesn't get up and we want some more mobility he could play the forward/2nd ruck role for Simpson but I'd prefer to see Simpson given a decent run in the lead up to finals.

He's definitely a talent and I'm all for getting him some game time if we get the chance. I just don't see this week as being it.

Don't think he'll play. As Scott has said previously it's harder for the talls to get in as there's less spots for them, and even if Pods isn't fit they'll probably preference West forward and Orren or Dawson in the ruck instead. The fact that he's starting to ruck at vfl level though is giving him another string to his bow, and he's a very promising prospect. Do think he'll be on the senior list next year.

Yeah can't see him getting thrown in against the Pies, but as u say P.O, has to be a near certainty for getting on the list next year with Pods struggling this season.

One of the things I like about the way he plays is that he will back himself to take a grab. If he doesn't mark it himself he is rarely outmarked meaning the ball comes to ground. I love that he smashes packs. Has a bit of c in him.

He's got an even better attribute. Despite the fact he goes for big marks, he doesn't go to ground often. Very good balance. Stood out last week I thought.

he will be in v soon
pods not playing this week
he can come in and could play on dawes releases taylor forward
simpson will play so too west - they prefer 2 rucks for 2.5 quarters and then let west ruck out - murdoch as the sub

IF - as CS has stated - Pods is unfit to go - Do you really think they will play West forward and Daws and big O?. I get that it will stretch any team to have that many falls playing forward but we can really afford to be that devoid of smaller faster options?

Would West covering Pods forward and then spelling Daws and adding a mid not help our rotations more? Just a thought.

Given what Scott said on tweet the coach it seems they want to get time into Dawson (or O) when they can and having Pods out and West effectively as the forward replacement would allow them to do that. It's not a net extra tall, it's the same. That's why I think normally they are reluctant to run two rucks but having a tall forward out injured allows them to do that.

Also keeps West fresh to then sub off Daws and have West ruck the rest of the game, which could be crucial. They definitely won't play three rucks though, no way ever. Might play 2 either Dawson OR Orren this week though.

Fair fair, but there's plenty of other teams out there that'll put him straight on their list

And we'll do the same thing in November.

Wouldn't worry.

I would doubt he would actively choose to leave the club. Club needs to list him however- sharks will be circling. What is he 197 and 90kgs? Plays hard and great lick most go the time.... Can think of one or two senior guys looking for the fluffy drinks and deck chairs by the pool next january rather a preseason whose list spot he could take.

ohhh' that's a bit risky imo, I like the idea and he may be able to beat Dawes with his athleticism but Dawes loves to play body on body with his opponent.

Dawes would have a good 17 or 18kg's on Walker, that's a lot of humanity and Dawes is the epitome of a confidence player, once he clunks that first mark or kicks that first goal...his form can go from shizenhousen to decent in the space of two quarters.
Not sure Walker would have the experience on the big stage to take him on (just yet, given his tender age), even on a player as poorly out of form as Chris Dawes.

Just my opinion, hope I'm wrong though and Scott elevates him and he plays this week and not only does well but beats Dawes fairly and squarely :p

I would much rather see HT embarrass Dawes and get in his more and frustrate him and leave Walker forward ....

We do need some options in the keys forward and back, it's been a bit static of late and the form of our few genuine talls seems to be inconsistent.
He needs to be elevated now.
For those who swallow this we're slow crap, wojo, murdoch, duncan, motlop, these are the guys who supposed to bring pace not your big boys, but presently we need a quality tall as well!!!!

Good call YOTC , all of the above with elite endurance and 19 years of age - that spells potential with a capital "P"
Has to be a keeper !!

Taylor forward, Simpson ruck, West mobile, Walker back line, no Pods, no worries

I just love it how the kid is playing for the same side as his grandfather!

Isn't gonna happen, most of the year they have been reluctant to play 2 talls and 2 rucks so I don't see it changing now, particularly if weather is an issue.

Walker's best chance this week is if we go with West as solo ruck and they think Walker can pinch hit as second ruck.

By the way I'm just saying what I think will happen, I'd be happy to see Walker in this week, but in such a big game and with the team balance I don't see it.
