yea, I think the offer is a genuine attempt and not some "revenge" play.
the fact that Weddle remains unsigned entering his final year of a contract certainly points to him being "gettable", but I'd imagine if he remains unsigned in six months time there will be very similar offers coming in from other clubs.
so it is certainly not an Essendon or Hawthorn is where he'll play in 2027 scenario, he will get 4-5 top-end offers.
if he was to leave the hawks, I'd have my money on St Kilda.

Essendon are just setting the bar higher than Hawthorn wanted as a revenge for the Merrett thing.
This is my guess anyway.
Note: Essendon would also be serious in their offer to him however. If the 0.01% chance he did sign with us happened Essendon would be happy.

No way weddle gets anything close to essendons offer. Can't blame a player for leaving for that money.
I think anything longer that 4 year extensions is risky for clubs. Comes down to move to a team for the money or stay at hawks for less but finals
