His snubbing along with Max in the greater (read Victorian) AFL media just shows that the "if he was playing for a Victorian club he would be better known " phrase is alive and well.

The Max snub is fair enough, as his offensive game isn't there yet, and usually the media doesn't care about defenders who defend well.

I actually think he is quite good offensively. He is finding his way further up the ground when the team is coming out of defence and is that last kick into the forward line.

He is getting a lack of recognition for a few reasons.
1. He plays for an interstate club. If he was playing the same except in Collingwood or Geelongs team, he would be far higher rated.
2. He is South Australian who didn't have a heap of hype over him in the national draft, and wasn't the son of a famous AFL/VFL player.
3. He is an average looking guy who isn't flamboyant. He blends in to the team well and just does his job week in, week out.

It's been long established that players usually only get considered for AA selection the season after they already reached that level.
Yep, that's why I don't expect to see Woz in there this year. Someone else who hasn't played as well this year will get in on reputation over him.

That chase down tackle was the moment

One of the commentators last week brought up that his intercepts had led to more scores than any other player in the competition

I predicted to a mate at the MCG in round 2 that Woz would be in the AA squad come the end of the year, I still reckon I am on track, AA team might be a push but squad is surely on the cards.

Dermie seems to love him.

Dermie was also in love with Bassett, and Roo.

Dermie has good taste.

QED.

I recently saw this clip, credit goes to @jadelaide, whoever you are.

He's very Jeremy McGoverney
Josh Worrell is having a great season and the football world is now starting to see the talent that we on bf have seen for a couple of years now. Good for him. Well deserved.

Open question though...

Where will he finish in our BnF? I personally think he's a lock for top 10, likely top 5 and possible podium finisher.

What do you think?
Who beats him?

Podium for mine.

Dawson wins and if ROB finishes the season well he rounds out the 3. Max a smokey.

Its a very good question and this is the year a top 10 finish means something, top 5 even more

TT in front of ROB and Max for mine. Too influential on game results to ignore.
However, those two should poll well, particularly Max as he's followed the strict discipline needed in defence. That said, I raise the question about Worrell as he's probably been our best player think year of our defenders. Even though they've all been pretty darn good.

Filthy would have to be right up there too. Curtin probs in the top 10, might get up in the top 5 if he keeps killing it every game.

Very hard to split a number of players who are doing really, really well this season. The top 10 will be crowded with blokes that have had career best years. Finishing 10th this year will be like finishing 4th in a previous year.

Agreed on Riley, however he's had a number of games where he hasnt factored much at all.

I think he’s a lock for AA. When it comes down to it, if we are top 2, then they will probably put at least 4 of our guys in there. Dawson, Rankine and Tillthorpe as well probably.
