He actually had a proper job at the club, somewhere in the physio department I think, when we drafted him. He's currently on a rehab program for both shoulders that would have seen him miss the preseason anyway.

He's the other side of the coin that people ignore when they point at a decent SANFL player, then point at Michael Barlow, and froth at the mouth a little.

Good on us for giving Joyce a chance to fulfill his contract with us after being collateral. Shame that he couldn't show anything on his second chance and therefore has been rightly delisted.

Joyce wasn't a mature age pick, he was straight out of the U18s. Certainly doubt he was part of the physio department considering he didn't finish school. Was a part time admin role at best I think, famously doubling as our mascot.

Whilst I agree that posters go a little over the top at times with wanting to draft any SANFL player who puts together 3 good games, but Joyce certainly isn't an example of this.

Stand corrected, also

The Cinderella story of the 2011 AFL Draft, Joyce spent last season working in Adelaide’s junior development team before being selected by the Club with pick No.46 in the national meet.

Had shoulder surgery in his draft year, and both shoulders again this year, was always up against it

Lets call it as it was and was one of Rendells stuff ups and he had a few in lower part of draft.
As his successes was from Victoria I wonder if Hamish was the real talent spotter in that time.
