Locking away Kennedy, Reid and Jack for the medium term is a perfect starting point for the team going into the future. If we can sort out Mumford, Jetta and Hannebery for similar lengths of time, we'll be really well set up for a sustained run of success.

This is HUGE news for us. Seriously.

He's our most important player, and probably the player who had the biggest go-home factor about him. And he doesn't do many interviews so it was always hard to guage how he felt about staying in Sydney.

But everything worked in our favour really, won the premiership last year just before his contract was up for discussion. So that'd form a bond with his teammates and the swans as a football club. The fact that he was an integral member of the squad makes it that much more of a bond than if he'd merely been a peripheral member of the team. He's got a south American girlfriend, and not a girlfriend from south of the border, so no Jolly-factor to contend with here. And the swans have a young list who look like being flag contenders for the near future. And we don't have a buddy franklin-type situation where we have to keep money locked away to maintain a current player.

^Yeah you just got to wonder how much of an effect the Premiership had on him. Different kettle of fish perhaps, but Nick Davis did say if the Pies had of won the flag in 2002 he wouldn't have left.

Ridiculously wicked awesome news!! Agree with all and sundry... For me was the biggest chance re: go home factor. Then crash bam boom, he's set up in Sydney with his "family" (his words not mine) and a premiership under his belt.

Very very happy and am in an amazing place right now about our club. I feel so much more content with were we are than I ever have in the past. Good balanced list of young & old. Our future is in great hands as far as I'm concerned. Just read the names... Hanners, JPK, Parker, Jack, Smith, Rohan, Reidy, Bird, Mitchell, Tippett, Jetts, AJ, Mummy, Morton.... I mean, damn that's a good list right there.
