Their fans would disagree. Carlton have done zip for ages, should they just not play?

No they just need to invest in the teams they have, Team 18 (change the ****ing name) is the official team , back em.
Roland Dane is back in the sport with Premiair, back em. Erebus with no major backing have always been a thorn in the big teams backsides.
Back the teams in.

GM obviously wants to keep the door open to the Aus/NZ market and Supercars is the way to do it.

If we do loose GM, then we should can the Gen and make the next gen be GT3 like DTM did. But I don’t think we will lose any, I do think we may get one more.
I certainly wish we'd stop playing, would save me a lot of time...

Should be interesting at the very least, I think GM are in for a really ordinary year. Will find out soon enough.

Weve all had seasons like that. Time and coin.

Oh I dont disagree it will be a rough one, but watching for our drivers development and improvement. Teams too. Premiair under Dane will be very interesting.

As an aside I wonder what the next few years will bring for the big two ford afterthoughts in Tickford and DJR….

I mean Walkinshaw walked to Toyota as they weren’t happy with ford, now Ford has a new number 1 lover in RBR yet DJR & Tickford have been loyally flying the flag since the dinosaurs. Will they be annoyed enough for GM to make a play for 1, or both, of these two quality teams? Make them the flagship?

I think GM should absolutely have a crack at one of those two. DJR has been on a steady decline since Scotty left (albeit Kostecki is a good get). Tickford really haven't been that relevant in a while. Waters is obviously a really good driver but he's missing some of the big results you'd have expected to have seen by now.

With Payne & Mostert, Toyota have drivers who are almost guaranteed of achieving some wins - if the car is good enough. They should be able to score some wins in the back half of the season.

Chevy don't have any good drivers at all - ADP is their best credentialed driver, and he's below average; literally half their drivers are 1st year rookies. Will they be able to steal a victory somewhere, at any stage in the season? Their best chance is early in the season, before T8 and the Toyotas really come to grips with their new cars.

My money is on:
Mustangs dominating the season, probably claiming 80% of the races.
Toyota getting some wins later in the season.
Camaro drivers coming away completely empty handed from the entire season.
Payne isnt in a Toyota, wrong kiwi

As for GM not jagging a win, I cant see it.

MSR are always fast at the AGP and a couple of other tracksalthough theyve got a totally different driver lineup, and I reckon Cooper Murray might be good for a win or 2 if he can keep himself out of trouble.

Anton might jag a win somewhere too.

It'll be 5 or less wins but the series wont allow them to go win less.

If hes a Holden man and hes driven any GM product post-VT Commodore, he most certainly has.
Well there was that last “commodore”. We won’t talk about that abomination.
What the heck was wrong with the VE/F? VX/Z was just a facelift VT so can’t complain about them.

Ha!

I just sold my BMW, my two cars prior to that were a VY (bloody excellent car, absolutely loved that thing) and a VE ute. Loved the ute aspect but the VE wasn't my fav.

Would move into a V8 VF tomorrow if I could justify the costs.

You are 100% correct. Mostert's off-sider is Ryan Wood, not Matt Payne.

Not sure why I always get this pair confused...

Regardless, the point still stands. Mostert & Wood are good enough to get wins, if their car is good enough. None of the Camaro drivers are good enough (though some may be good enough one day, given that half of them are 1st year rookies).

They signalled a sign that Holden had run out of ideas and/or money.

Dad had a VF company car, it felt like a VT which by that time was dated.

When Ford ballsed up the AU, which could've been a good car but wasnt, they made the BA which made the VT look and feel like a dinosaur. So too the FGX.

Problem for both manufacturers was that the Japanese and to a lesser extent Koreans started making better and more importantly cheaper cars.

My apologies for derailing the thread !!!

Disagree the VE/F was a quality product streets ahead of what many thought was the pinnacle at the time the mighty VT.

Problem was the Aussie government, both sides, are happy spending billions on stupid shit but not a few mil to keep Aussie jobs and our car industry going.

Same sorry for the derail. Still hurts.

VF was a very good car, i would happily buy one. VE i wouldn't touch personally. I worked on Holden's from 1997-2019.
VF was a fantastic car. I had a series 2 Redline and it was a lot better than the 2017 Mustang I test drove. One thing that stood out was the interior quality. Shit all over the Stang. It felt cheap compared to the Commodore.

The Mustang was the superior car in almost every way, its a big reason why they still make them ;)

Cromulant was it you who was calling for Supercars to use the West Circuit at The Bend for the Enduro? If so, you've got your wish. If not, my apologies for forgetting who it was who made this call.

Hopefully the West Circuit can produce something better than the International Circuit. Watching the enduro on the International Circuit was marginally less interesting than watching the grass growing around said circuit.

It was indeed. At very least itll look at little less barren on TV.

Typically the track has provided better racing for every "sedan" type category so we'll see.
