I'm rating it on who I'd rather have a beer with.As much as we love Chappy, it's debatable that he's ever been in the top 10 AFL players in a season in his career. It's debatable that Judd has ever been out of the top 10 AFL players since his second season.
Just because he's a 'footballer's footballer', he's ultra-reliable and everyone seems to love the way he goes about it, doesn't make him the equal of Judd. Come on now...
Anyone who says Chapman is surely taking the piss...great player but come on
Open your other eye.
It depends on the need of your team.
We have plenty of inside ball winners and don't need anymore. That's Judds #1 strength. He doesn't kick many goals, hardly ever takes an overhead mark and his disposal is questionable at best.
Our team needs someone to rotate through the midfield, kick goals and play the lead up forward role.
Despite BF's misnomer that we lack in the midfield it is actually our forward line that is deficient.
Horses for courses.
There's inside ball winners and then there's Chris Judd. .
Chapman if we have to pay their respective salaries
That's very true but what's the point of Judd winning clearances if the team isn't going to capitalize on them?
For example.
Essendon: Clearances: 50, Inside 50's: 59
Richmond: Clearances: 28, Inside 50's: 47
Yet we lost.
He's got an aura about him that few players have and it's a trait that can't be understated.
That goal he kicked on Friday night, where he scooped up the ball one-handed, burnt off his opponent, and kicked it through on his left foot, tells you that he's still got that side of his game.
