I think Eddie has managed to destabilise Judd. His mind just isn't on four quarters of football. He needs to sign a contract soon and get his mind back on the footy or if he wants to move on then he can spend the rest of the year in the WAFL and we can bring Chambers or Wooden in.

If anything the Media has destabilised him with the constant rumor and innuendo about where he's going.

His form may be down , but it certainly doesnt warrant being dropped, irrespective of if he stays or goes next season.

Judd dropped is a ridiculous statement, he isn't in the best form of his life, but let's remember he's only 19, is in his second year and hasn't played 50 games yet.
I thought he was good today, and within our best, remember the first three rounds when he was unstoppable?
Every player has form lapses, and if this is as bad as Juddy will get, that's pretty awesome.
He'd be in any team in the league even at present, and I'm happy he's with us, still getting around 20 possies a game and a vital part of our midfield.
It's ridiculuous to bag a player like that so early in his carrer, when he's performed way above expectations at such a young age.

What the hell has Eddie done?

Just for the record, it is the other Victorian clubs (in particular, Melbourne, Essendon and Hawthorn) who you should be worried about in regards to Judd, not us.

Our main priority is a ruckman.

His form may be down, but I think he will come good again. I think there are a few players who are down and not just Judd.

The contract he will sign will be at the end of the season, there is no point in adding more to his worries till then. I just hope he puts in 100% for the club and look at what he wants to do at the end of the season.

Getting heavily tgged must surely have something to do with it.

I actually saw him turn on his blazing speed in defense a few times today too.

Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't drop him on form. But if he does want to leave then I would drop him to allow other players to get AFL experience that will benefit us in the next few seasons.
I am certain that if he signed a contract with wce he would be back to his explosive best. Contacts are usually negotiated around midseason, as is the case with Cuz at the moment.

Give the KID a break.

Remember it is his second season and teams are now working him out. He will need to now work through this situation and learn how to shake tags.

In the game against Essendon, a commentator said that Judd was sitting back, not using his natural attribute - speed. Just needs to be re-focused on his game.

Contract negotiations are a pain, it happens around this time of year for a club or two each year, where a big name player is coming out of contract. Personally I reckon at the end of the season, the manager puts the offers on the table and it is sorted out with in 2 weeks.

Agree with Masai and Jumper.

He's young. 2nd season. 19 years old. HUGE media wraps on him and HUGE expectations on him.

Realistically, he's going to have patches where he fades. His best is almost unbelievable which further compounds the fact people generally expect the superstar for 4 quarters each outing. But with the onfield attention he's beginning to get plus the fact he's still developing, that isn't going to happen right away.

Even though he needs to work on the defensive aspect of his game still I actually think on balance this year has been better than last year.

I sincerely believe Judd has it in him to be in the top 1-2 players in the league. He has the tools to be anything he wants to be- he's big and will only get bigger, has absolute lightning pace, great skills, and the beginnings of a very acute football brain.

Having said that, geez. Its his second year, he's 19 years old. Put simply for most football players there first two years on an AFL list are about development, and anything you get out of them on field is a bonus. Judd has been the best sort of rookie this year and last in that he was contributing as well as developing, but in reality, what Judd can do this year is not half as important as what Judd can do in three or four years time. Development is still the number one priority.

The fact that he has already put some runs on the board just means the expectations have been ratcheted up a little. I'm not sure I'd say he's going through second year blues- perhaps he's having a little trouble coming to terms with being a marked man who everyone wants to tag- iirc, Cousins had similar issues during his emergence.

Realistically, don't expect *anything* from Judd at this stage. Its lovely that he is capable of getting 20 touches a game during his development phase, and putting in the occasional game breaking performance. When he takes the next step, he'll be a superstar, but for the moment, just trust.

I think we are putting way too much pressure on Chris Judd. He is a 2nd year player, approx 30 games under his belt and has had a lot to cope with since coming over to Perth.

The reality is - he won't win games off his own back YET. He can't be classified as a champion YET. He needs to string a solid 4 quarter performance together and do that on a consistant basis.

He was very good in the final quarter when the game was there to be won (or drawn).

If we drop Judd then we are mad, but his form is down - but what else can you expect from a 19 year old with his name plastered ALL over the papers.

Maybe his fitness is a problem because he always starts off like a house on fire than has about the same amount of touches in the final 3 quarters as he does in the first quarter??? He seems fit, but maybe it is just a thought??

**** yea!!!

I've rated him, along with Pavlich and Riewoldt as the three best young guys in the competition.

His form is a little down but he still got 20 disposal and 6 marks yesterday. Cant complain about that. I even saw him chasing a few times with that lightening speed we are accustomed to.

Judd was very good early on in the season, as was Fletcher and Jones, while Cousins and Kerr struggled a little. Cousins has now been BOG 3 straight weeks and Kerr is almost back to his best. As long as their is team balance then I dont really care :D

Geez, give him a break! Sure he made a couple of mistakes yesterday, but who didn't?
There's certainly a few in our team from Sunday that I'd drop before Judd.
IMO, it's always a worry when a new and exciting young player has a huge first season - we all expect even more (too much) the following season, rather than understanding they need time to grow and develop.

Just went through the BFWCPOTY leaderboards, and so far this is how he has been going:

Round 1 v Port Adelaide - 1st BOG 133 votes
Round 2 v Hawthorn - 62 votes
Round 3 v St Kilda - 0 votes
Round 4 v Adelaide - 2nd BOG 103 votes
Round 5 v Fremantle - 0 votes
Round 6 v Melbourne - 2 votes
Round 7 v Geelong - 10th BOG 13 votes
Round 8 v Collingwood - =5th BOG 19 votes
Round 9 v Richmond - =10th BOG 2 votes
Round 10 v Essendon - 9th BOG 4 votes
Round 11 v Bulldogs ?????

So yea, obviousbly there is a bit of a down patch there, but he's still getting in our top half on the ground most weeks, so if thats as bad run of form from a second year player, god help the AFL when he's in his mid 20's and just hitting his peak.
