Ive noticed that Judd is wearing Puma Boots.
Arent we sponsored by nike? whats the deal here?
I dont particularly think it matters, he could kick just as well in a pair of double pluggers, but im just wondering if he has his own contract with Puma?

Ok, I'm excited about Judd as the next Blues fan, but there are another 30 odd players worth talking about.

I don't think every little thing one notices with the great man needs to start a new thread. It's almost gone from being the Carlton board to the Judd board.

I'd like to see more threads on how well Carrazzo's training or whether Clint Benjamin will seize his opportunity in the NAB cup or Jake Edwards for that matter, or the work Bradley is doing at the club etc.

just my take...

i agree with the guy abaove push players like simpson and such a bit more this judd stuff is getting extreme, but we do it with marty i spsoe.

ANyways about the boots, all players can have their own Boot sponsor they dont have to be the same as the club major sports brand ie judd has puma but wears Nike. Rule came in after Kouta got his own boot sponsor and was told he couldnt play unless he wopre the clubs sponsor. Happens at every team Rocca wears puma amd Wakes nike and we are sponsored by addidas so it isnt a huge issue

It would probabley be a personal sponsor. West Coast is sponsored by Puma and he wore them for us though who knows, He might switch to Nike come rd 1 if it isnt a personal sponsor.

certainly were. Skinny, Scott West and Shane Crawford were Diadora's main players, strange bunch.
I think I have just developed a strong distaste for Diadora:D. Those boots were disgraceful!

I'm sure Kouta was sponsored by Adidas (I think it was Adidas) aswell.

Juddy wears Puma because he is paid quite handsomely to do so. Most regular senior players would have some sort of boot sponsorship to a varying degree. Non-sponsored players usually just wear the boots of their clubs apparel sponsor (ie: for Carlton - Nike).

As boots are deemed a players only "tool of the trade" they are free to wear whatever brand they like. This was pushed for the AFLPA a few years ago. Kouta's dispute with Carlton over his right to wear Adidas boots back in 1997 was a large part of this. Hird had similar arguments with Essendon over his right to wear specially modified Asics boots due to his foot problems. Although the issue dates as far back as the early 1990's when Simon Madden wanted to wear Blades but was tied to Adidas and painted white Adidas stripes on the side of his Blades boots.
