wow surprising i didnt think he wanted it and nor did i believe carlton really wanted to give it to him.

IMO stevens was really the only option

Suprising if true. As good a player as Judd is, it's very difficult to walk straight into a club and be captain - he isn't a natural leader in my opinion. I would have thought Stevens would have gotten the job - he should have been given the captaincy ahead of Whitnall last year
 
Didn't Ratts say that no decision would be made until just before the start of the H&A season?
 
Respected by all, never puts a wrong step with the media, our best player, most marketable, mature, has no factional history, allows Murphy, Gibbs etc.to blossom without pressure. I don't know why any one would be against it. Stevens carries a bit of wieght, known for getting on the gas, apperently doesn't always set the right example and he sat on Smorgans boat trying to turf his old coach. Has has history. We as a club are going forward we need to go with with the new someone who always does the right thing and sets the right example for our young team. I hope this is correct.
 
I'll believe it when i see it.

Ratts has said time and time again that there will be a group of up to 6 players fighting it out for the captaincy (juddy included) but that this decision wouldn't be made until just before round 1.
 
Who knows? I personally think Juddy should get the job ... interesting line up for a media conference if it ain't about the captaincy.
 
i dont fink juddy should be captain, i fink it should go to a player that been there for awhile. let juddy do what he do best and just play footy without the added responcibilities of captaincy

The captaincy will be announced on the eve of the NAB cup - like last year. Judd's jumper number and a new major sponsor would have to be the next announcements to come from the club.
 
Fair enough. Well if it's a major sponsor annoucement and they pick Judd to represent the playing group, I think that says a fair bit about who's going to get the job.

Just got told by a mate that it's a sponsorship deal.

It will most likely to announce he will be wearing #5 and what better way to do then by also showing off the new sponsor.

Where did you hear this btw? (not that I don't believe you just curious as i'll be at training tomorrow morning).
 
Just someone who knows someone at the club. They're trying to keep it secret. Don't know who the sponsor is but apparently it's a massive deal.
 
VISY would be my tip. Did they ever have a big announcement for them?

Maybe an increase in sponsor dollars?

NAB maybe?

Who else is a high profile Carlton supporter?
 
and as mentioned in an earlier post..... what a great way to reveal Juddy's number as well...... :D

hey bluesgirl..... do you know if they will be training early on Friday or at all on Friday morning.....if so might take my daughter down for a look
