Well no, but the AFL's baby got a former no 1 pick for steak knives and on a tiny wage . One who couldn't turn up for work 6 months ago & is now heading their promos on TV.

None of this was planned, of course . But if you were the AFL/Suns and you did plan it, it would be a pretty good plan.
Don't think there were any other clubs prepared to take the risk. They could of, but they didn't. Well done to the Suns if it works out.

Everyone attributes his downfall to a lack of professionalism, but I think there's more to it. If he was happy and enjoying his football, I think he'd be less inclined to hang out with the unsavory group he was with.

Problem was that Luke Beveridge was the coach. He was relentlessly insistent on playing a tall forward line in 2024 with 3-5 players always going for the same mark, and it was hard for anyone to thrive. Ugle-Hagan played a poor game in the elimination final loss against Hawthorn, and it felt like he was being scapegoated with suggestions he let the club down. The problem is the terrible Beveridge system made it very hard to perform in that forward line consistently. It makes perfect sense why Ugle-Hagan would feel disillusioned and not feel like playing anymore.

Probably just the parties though

He played a poor game before the elimination final because he decided to jet off to Bali - against team and AFLPA rules - in the two weeks he had off, and Bont essentially had to beg Bevo to let him play (Bevo wanted to drop him for breaching team rules) stating that they could worry about that later.

He then proceeded to not want to turn up to training.

While we all empathise with mental health struggles we all find it a bit perplexing that it's apparently been allowed to be a carte blanche defence for all behaviour last year (even after appropriate employer treatment), that the Dogs don't get any recourse to sack him earlier in the season than we did (or be allowed to benefit from salary cap room opening up etc.),even though he fundamentally wasn't acting in his contractual duties, to you know, turn up to training and complete all aspects of a mental health plan set up for him (he has an obligation to accept help provided, which he didn't always do).

The "system" not letting him play well - wtf are you on about? He was inarguably the best key or psuedo-key forward of his age for large parts of the last two years that he did play. He was a better footballer than (for example) Riley Thilthorpe that he was directly drafted ahead of, in 2023 and 2024.

Try again. Take your weird Bevo hate elsewhere.

"inarguably" - lol
pseudo-key forward? lol

He had consistency problems all throughout 2024, and your mob's forward line absolutely had problems with too many people going for the same mark.
I do not expect blind beveridge fanatics like yourself to realize this. Just keep believing he'll get it right one day.

Jamarra was 4th in the league for player shots per game in 2024, at the age of 22. 4.7 per game. Cameron led the league with 5.2. 10th was 3.9

The ages of the other top 10 players were 31, 27, 30, 29, 26, 24, 31, 27 and 30.

He contributed signifcantly in tough away wins late in the year against premiership prospects in 2024 as the Dogs charged from outside to I side a fi Al's spot - within outstanding games against Carlton (at home), then away wins in Geelong and Sydney, before kicking 2.6 (lol) but getting 5 coaches votes against Melbourne to an outstanding month of footy within the last 8 games he's played at AFL level before going off the rails. Again, at 22 years old.

You can see why Dogs fans get ticked off. We actually watch every Dogs game, we know and remember how he contributed, not just a media perception of his "underperformance" (which was not really underperformance at all given age and inexperience and presumed development as he got older.

He did get it right when he won a flag - something your club has never managed.

If the plan included JUH looking like he was off the rails to tank his trade value, why would he accept a tiny wage? He’d have had to have been in on it.

Oh no, too many people competed for the ball I wanted.

Perhaps I should go and get on the gear a bit more. That will fix it.

He's back with his old girlfriend from Vic who dumped him and moved to the GC 18 months ago. Things appear to be stable now that he's in a relationship and doesn't feel the need to go and have a blowout with his 'gangster' friends twice a week.

Time will tell if that holds up long term even if it does mean short term success.

I was never a fan of him as a player.

For mine he sits in that grey area of not being enough to a Key Forward, and not being agile, fast and skillful enough to be a Small/Medium Forward.

And his kicking is not good.

The hype nowhere matched the reality of his capabilities.
Agree completely - the commentary literally barracking for him every game was nauseating…Tally Ho,Barf Barf.
