This saga is an insult to so many people.

If it is mental health issues, then you have got the money to go and do proper rehab. So either do it; or don't call it mental health issues - that is disrespectful to a lot of people struggling out there.

Big difference between Harry McKay and JUH. McKay actively went to seek help, did it, came back and then spoke out and did it in a way that was respectful and honest, even when the football media were pathetic in their portrayal of him as a whole (lambasting the guy for playing VFL instead of AFL was atrocious behavioiur. It clearly helped him mentlaly to play infront of a smaller crowd) .

JUH hasnt sought help in any way.... and dont pretend this is a unknown element. Bulldogs have actively told us this truth already. If im the AFL/WB id reject his leave request until he puts in place a 100% outlined treatment plan. Until he does that he cant claim mental health as a reason

He quite possibly is but do you know for a fact he is? By the way, I'm one of those people that thinks that if you decide to take non-prescribed drugs to solve your problems it's your own fault if it goes awry.

You can do this, I have injured myself on annual leave, went to hospital and had medical evidence and I exchanged the remaining annual leave for sick leave and continued my holiday as I was unfit to return to work.

Yes, this is allowable in the Vic. government sector, I know of colleagues that have done the same thing.

We needed him away from the club. Hes currently too much of a distraction. And the bonus with this is itll stop the questions about his return to football. Provides clean air for the club and Marra

I do agree with this but in fairness comparing anyone with probably the most mercurial and naturally talented FF since Ablett is unfair

Though maybe the argument is that unless you are exactly that then you are not worth the hassle with the drama you bring? Which is a super fair argument.

I genuinely do wish the best for Marra but this behaviour is juvenile and self destructive. A football club especially in the professional context would be one of the best places in the world to pull you out of a rut like this. If he can't do it with 43 blokes his age around him and two elite sporting organisations (WBD, AFL) as well as the AFLPA throwing resources at him to support him then I really do fear for what will become of him.

for all the criticism he copped and the inglorious end, fev could seriously play and produced the goods. 2 coleman's, 3 all-australians, 3+ goals a game and a bees dick away from a century (yes different times). JUH nowhere near that.

AFLPA aren't the bad guys here, the player protections are in place for a reason. Eg the Pies have treated some players poorly, Mark Orval back in the day.

Never heard Juh talk about what football means to him, perhaps for him it's just a job.
And he quits.

He's been pretty open publicly about not liking football in the past. I had a feeling he may quit footy to try to become a pro boxer early in his career. Not sure it's a feasible option for him any more.
