Right up until the minute he requested a trade - when you guys were still hoping he'd stay - your board was claiming Bailey was just a bit of a loveable rogue. He did some silly FIGJAM-y things but fundamentally a good bloke, he's just a bit of a different cat who lives life his own way.

Only after he wanted out did he magically turn into a horrible toxic culture-killer and selfish knobhead who nobody ever liked anyway.
When at the Bulldogs did Bailey publicly insult another club or their supporter base?

This saga is an insult to so many people.

If it is mental health issues, then you have got the money to go and do proper rehab. So either do it; or don't call it mental health issues - that is disrespectful to a lot of people struggling out there.
100%.

Mental health is an absolute throw away line these days. Mental health issues have always existed, and as someone with mental health issues I can tell you that the only person getting you through it is you. People will be there for you but that really has a shelf life because people have their own lives, issues, and responsibilities. You keep being needy, in the pits and flat Stanley and people will give up.

If the guy has issues then he has the resources that 99% of the population don’t. Doctors, psychologists etc. All available via a text message. This isn’t mental health. This is him having a beef about something, leveraging his status at the no.1 pick against the sympathy and patience granted to him, and literally doing minimal to get back to his job. His season is over. The money should also be over. He was ineffectual in his last game that I am surprised he was selected at all.

We are almost 10 weeks in to the year and nothing is resolved. I think they wish him well, fulfill employment or industrial relations obligations and send him on his way. If the rumours are true about his behaviours and associations then I’d be reluctant to employ him. There’s kids at pick 50-70 who’d want it more.

I think I'll be able to take it.

We've had Mooney and Hawkins spending most of their careers getting suspended for brain-dead acts, Scott trolling the media, a whole series of smart arses (SJ, Mackie), pricks (Scarlett, Chappy) and FIGJAMs (Dangerfield et al), and our players have had plenty of misdemeanours.

What new thing is big bad Baz gonna bring? He's going to sew disharmony and cause gentle unease? Sounds terrifying.

Human beings are flawed and sometimes even dislikable. We watch some of them kick a footy around once a week. Life goes on.
Wait, are you comparing Baz to that list of players?? 😮🫢

On topic, JUH’s behaviour has disrupted the Western Bulldogs’ team dynamics by damaging trust, causing frustration among teammates and coaches, and becoming a distraction that affects team morale and cohesion. No other club will welcome that sort of player no matter how good a player he is.

So at the end of the year he demands a trade and suddenly everything is ok?

Or the issues are genuine and no club would be i terested?
This is what I am thinking. For whatever reason 2025 is a write off and he will be identifying MH as the reason, so you’d assume that he’s using the year to address that.

All 17 other clubs have seen is f*** all evidence of him sorting himself out.

There’s a video of him being interviewed last year. He says he hasn’t watch a game of footy since Buddy’s 1000th goal. Then Naughton tells a story about how Marra got told to play on Jake Lever, he didn’t even know who he was. He had to ask Naughton “which one is Lever?”

He doesn’t give a shit about footy. He’s a wannabe gangster just like his mates.

That’s all well and good, footy isn’t for everyone. No shame in that. But if you don’t care about it one single bit then pull the pin and go pour concrete for your mates who think they’re about to star in the new underbelly season, but in reality would be more used to having a spray can in their hand and not a weapon.
I wonder if this was the reason he hardly played in his first few years. Bevo has a good bullshit filter so may have picked up on him early on?

I promise you, not one word of this is true.

At best, we accommodated him. Let’s talk in 12 to 18 months when the honeymoon period is over.

Just brought back some memories for me upon seeing it I guess. Cheers dude like yea it was my own fault but it was a hectic time.
Aura, I hope you are ok. Dreadful, but people understand it is all about the sicko doing it and not you. The victims of abuse are never to blame. I know that too well, myself. Sending a far-too-late hug, even though I don't know you.

Smiths attitude during/after games is actually getting worse.

His off field behaviour was the issue at the dogs.

He doesn’t seem right in the head.

His ego is too big, simple. Shat on the club that gave him a chance, that stuck by him when he broke Covid rules, was caught with coke, and acted liked a f wit a couple of times on field. Looked after him after he done his knee, and allowed him to go away on holiday instead of training/rehab. Deliberately withheld extending his contract to help Geelong get him on the cheap. Talked to the Cats behind our backs for a whole 18 months before he even left. Decided we were not big enough a club for his brand, and liked the idea of more money. Knew Geelong is a good fit, because if he gets caught partying to hard on the nose beers, Geelong will just claim it was planted on him or spiked. And as you said, he is starting to act up on the field even more. Amazed at how many Cats fans think shoving a football in someones face is "great". I thought the Cats were all about good culture?

I'm happy to see people who contribute poorly to culture shown the door, whether it is Stringer, Hunter, Dalhaus, Smith. The party boy types. Club is always bigger than the individual. Funny how many opposing fans and the media pot the Dogs culture, as if we should endorse the party culture, where the rest of the team act professional and dedicated to their roles. Why disrupt that by allowing bad influences to hang around? Strikes me as a club unafraid to make hard calls, than sugar coat bad behaviour like some clubs do.

Smith reminds me of Aker. Great footballer- can't really question his on-field output. But I don't imagine he'd be all that popular around the club and it'll be hard to continually accommodate his antics when his form inevitably drops off.
And he ain't a bogan, he's an East Malvern Xavier lad who's capitalising on a savvy, self constructed image.

Caro on agenda setters tonight, questioned how his contract hasn't been breached by "conduct unbecoming". I'll be honest I normally don't agree with semantics or specific wording, or with Caro all the time. Although, she has a fair point.

Even a broken (nauseating wind bag) clock is right twice a day.
