this. ultimately we want our players to perform, we (largely) don't care less what happens off the field.

I would take him at the Saints on very little money. Give two years, if he can't turn it around in that time then let him go. All you lose is money, what you can gain would be anything.

same but at the Dons, we have his old mentor - Travis Varcoe at the club, could probably get his Hero Chris Johnson down there as well. Would actually like Scott to bring a few more Brisbane people in rather than North people, now getting Ealges people too from CEO.

We literally have about 6 medium half forwards so hes not really a need, but can just sit in the 2's until he gets himself back into shape. We might even be forced to roll him out for the dream time game if Gresham leaves us and joins his brother at the blues.

The issue with him going to other clubs with this talent is that even if he fulfils his talent on a strictly on field sense when he gets on the park, you can't guarantee that it actually helps the team.

He's struggled to even turn up to training, which means, (speaking in general terms), how will he know where on the field he's meant to stand? How will he know little things like which foot his teammates kick with? He might be able to still take a mark and kick a goal (or maybe not, if he's not training), but so much of footy is about team cohesion, of which you have to be actually training to build up.

Wouldn’t happen. There’s clauses in there to dump players if they stuff up enough

In his case you’re right.

However generally speaking bikies etc love to try and get involved with AFL players.

Don’t underestimate the way they are able to manipulate impressionable young men via drugs, gambling, power or whatever.

There’s a lot of silly and naive young footballers who make great targets for these scumbags.

Then once you’re in it can be very hard to rid yourself of them.

We saw at happen with Jake King. He brought Toby Mitchell into the rooms at Richmond and that was really looked down upon.

But what’s the reason they want in with footballers? Money? Connections?

AFL clubs are like problem gamblers when looking for natural talent and I’m sure someone would be lured into giving him another chance out of desperation, just like with Laurence Angwin, Harley Bennell, Ben Cousins etc.

If he doesn’t address the underlying issue I suspect it would end the same way.

It seems like they’ve settled this year on his deal, paying him in full. However given the circumstances I think next year they might be able to end the contract. That’s just from reading various articles. He is on 900k a year.

It’s absurd that he is able to receive this amount of money and literally not play one game. Absurd.

No, we've wanted to and the AFL has told us no.

The fact that it's the AFL's decision to make is fair enough, because whether or not Jamarra is in breach of his contract is more to do with the player protections into contracts (ie a minimum level of mental health/cultural support before you sack a guy). These player protections arise out of AFL/AFLPA CBA negotiations.

The AFL needs to have the balls to tell him that he can sign on to an AFL club, but only if its Footscray, and on a 1 year minimum (rookie) wage. If he proves he can play again then he can negotiate. If this is all a ploy to get to a different club on f... all wage then thats rorting the system and hurting the club thats done a lot to get him back on track. If he plays again it should be to reward them for their commitment to him.

AFL needs to say you can only play for the dogs, if you choose not to you will never get a license to play in the AFL again.

There is a horrible undercurrent that this year has been designed to get him somewhere else. That cant be tolerated at League level.
