We saw at happen with Jake King. He brought Toby Mitchell into the rooms at Richmond and that was really looked down upon.

But what’s the reason they want in with footballers? Money? Connections?

IIRC there was an article that touched on it when the Cousins stuff was going down.

While some may have ulterior motives, it claimed a lot of criminals were starstruck nuffies.

Unless he broke a club imposed curfew and the reported facts that he wasn’t involved in any way are correct, I’m not exactly sure why this would really impact any decision on him. Given the guaranteed nature of the contract, and the fact that any termination likely wouldn’t bring salary cap relief, it makes no sense to let go of his rights until or unless we got an offer that made sense for us to do so. Even another year like this one likely wouldn’t be enough to stop one of the 17 clubs (if not multiple) from thinking that they could be the spot to get the most out of him, so even if we’ve determined he’s never gonna play for us again, keeping his rights until the end of the 2026 should be done unless we find someone else that makes it worth our while to relinquish him to them. Terminating him before that point seems more of an emotional reaction and not very logical one. Again assuming our salary cap charge for him in 2026 wouldn’t change even if terminated today, all that it will cost us to keep him on our list in 2026 is a list spot that would be in theory occupied by the 45th best player on our list who would’ve otherwise become our 44th best player if JUH didn’t take up a spot. The potential trade return for JUH is obviously going to be higher than your average 45th best player after the draft and final list lodgements.

What's inaccurate about it? Meth fries your brain, I didn't think that was controversial.
Long term chronic use might cause some brain injury, short term use doesn't altho it might cause short term psychosis if people binge but its something people recover from.

But people rarely use meth or other serious drugs at a heavy rate for long periods without already having some issues to begin with.

It was to do with Chris Mainwaring after his death.
He told a journalist? that he was used as a trophy bu the bikies/underworld. The crims thought having him as a mate/trophy made them somehow relevant.
Mainwaring also said it was very hard to remove yourself from that circle. They are leeches.

Well I think most would have said that Dunkley and Sniff were easily best 10 and we didnt get anything close to what either was/is worth. Any club trading for JUH is gonna want to bend us over twice as hard given the stories were all seeing.

Surely the Dogs would be happy just to wash their hands of him at this point.

So because we are worried we won’t get a sufficient return for him we should just dump him now and guarantee we get no return for him? Certainly does stop other teams screwing us over if we just decide to sabotage ourselves, but not sure it’s a smart way to run a football club.

wtf are you on about? im quoting your post on bartels wife? as in, asking what the reference is to her?
Ok - I’m must surprised I have to explain it. 🤷🏻

Bartel’s ex- wife had/has a serious drug habit - allegedly.

I’m sure there would be other WAGs that ‘party’ too often or too hard.

Hence I used her as an example of how dealers can access and damage families - probably why Jimmy dumped her.

Outsider looking in, I don't know what I don't know, but got to feel for the dogs on this one.

Don't know that they could have handled it any better or any differently to get a better outcome - you just can't help someone not willing to help themself.

The idea of hanging on to him next year costs the same as cutting him loose and paying out his contract - strictly in terms of dollars that is true, but there is the cost to culture and morale of the rest of the playing group.

There's almost always an underlying reason why people behave in ways that sabotage themselves, and it comes from theor childhood. Also their mother's behaviour at birth and in the early years. Look up some youtube clips from eminent substance researcher Gabor Mate, if you like.

I've been in rehab & AA . I was suspicious when Marra returned from his Queensland 'health retreat' and addressed the playing group saying he was sorry. and presumably that he'd be a good boy from thereon.

Rehab doesn't address the underlying reasons why you behave the way you do. That's lifelong work. You don't get many 23 year olds in AA. Most of us have to truly f$$k up our lives & hit the bottom before we reach out.

The prefrontal cortex, the part that deals with decion making, isn't fully developed at 23.

None of this excuses his behaviour. I will breathe a sigh of relief when he leaves our club. Sad but relieved.

Edits to add: the idea of complete personal responsibility for our behaviour is a myth. The majority of Australians eat more than they want to, maybe drink more alcohol than is good for them. Noone enters a marriage thinking it'll end in divorce .... but. And seemingly many Aussie males can't function without access to a massage shop every 200 metres along our shopping strips. Cast the first stone, lads.

We tried last year by all accounts.
St Kilda did their due diligence on him and then said no.

I don't think any club takes the risk.

So do I say thank you now for Thilthorpe?

Is this poor timing? 😅
Thank you for what?

Dogs never had access to Thilthorpe because the only way that they were able to jump into pick 1 was to use junk picks in the bidding system

Apologies I'll rephrase it. I remember us bidding on JUH.. and at the time I thought he was going to be a far superior player to Thilthorpe
