I still remember that elimination final like it was yesterday. I was in the Ponsford Stand behind the goals and distinctly remember seeing him up the other end of the field ~180metres away and wondering WTF was going on.Same amount of urgency he showed in the elimination final.
Loving the The Sopranos references. If there are any other Sopranos aficionados here, the storyline of Jackie Aprile Jnr is very reflective of JUH....
He was prone to the odd game like that (maybe not quite as bad, but disinterested). Suspect he was playing up for quite a while and it only caught up with him late.I still remember that elimination final like it was yesterday. The way he was moving suggested something was not right. Very bizarre at the time.

Won twice as many premierships as your entire club...Not being nasty but I had to google who he was..
I suspect playing him in that game will end up being one of Bevos biggest coaching regrets when he looks back.I still remember that elimination final like it was yesterday. Likewise. F**king how did he get a game over a sober Rhylee West?I still remember that elimination final like it was yesterday. I was in the Ponsford Stand behind the goals and distinctly remember seeing him up the other end of the field ~180metres away and wondering WTF was going on.

Rhylee was injured iircLikewise. F**king how did he get a game over a sober Rhylee West?
West was recovering from a broken jaw and had an average VFL the week before.View attachment 2404387
Not that it matters, but West was available and was named emergency in the QF.
Surely a line needs to be drawn where if a player doesn’t turn up to work, goes of the rails, damages the club and brand that the contract gets terminatedOutsider looking in, I don't know what I don't know, but got to feel for the dogs on this one.
Don't know that they could have handled it any better or any differently to get a better outcome - you just can't help someone not willing to help themself.
The idea of hanging on to him next year costs the same as cutting him loose and paying out his contract - strictly in terms of dollars that is true, but there is the cost to culture and morale of the rest of the playing group.

Marra should not have played at all after his little trip during the week.
Probably been mentioned, what did he do during the week?
Almost unbelievably , but apparently its a lnowm truth ...
The week before the final he went off on holiday to Bali, and then returned to play the Hawks after his foreign sojourn.
Apparently it split the group & coaching staff on whether he should play or not, and it was quite close to the start of the game when the call to keep him in the side was made.So skipped most sessions and was still selected?

my visual observation from 180 metres at the mcg was that he was 'affected' on game day.Seems absurd to have not made the call prior to game day.
I think it’s generally reflective of the special treatment this guy has had.Seems absurd to have not made the call prior to game day.
That was an absolute howler of a decision (that my club admittedly used to their full advantage). Did someone overrule Bevo on this?Apparently it split the group & coaching staff on whether he should play or not, and it was quite close to the start of the game when the call to keep him in the side was made.
Leadership group apparently pleaded Jamarra’s case. There was talk of him being sub but they settled on starting him on the bench. That was an absolute howler of a decision (that my club admittedly used to their full advantage). Did someone overrule Bevo on this?
