my visual observation from 180 metres at the mcg was that he was 'affected' on game day.
There was the flow on effect of disunity among the group too. Just a disaster all round.

Obviously Hawthorn has a good record against us so you can’t blame the loss on this, but I do wonder if it was the difference between a tight, hard fought final and the flop we ended up with.

Shows the importance of team chemistry. For success they need to have 100% confidence in each other.

The leadership group has a bit to answer for. Plenty of players have been suspended for missing or being late to training. The idea a player could take the field in a final after going on a bender was ridiculous.

The signal it sends to players that just missed out and those who never put a foot wrong…

My understanding was that Bevo didn’t want to play him in the EF.

Happy to be corrected.

At the time yeah for sure. But you'd imagine given the events of this season that the leadership group would've addressed a few players and acknowledged they misjudged the situation.

That’s assuming the rest of the 23 didn’t want him playing. I would have assumed the LG represented what the group wanted.

He was at the Warrnambool and District league final. Probably where he’ll be running around next season at this rate.
Well, it may suit him a lot better. He won't be earning the big bucks but the local league might organise sponsorships for him. He could be a lot happier, which isn't a bad outcome.

The dogs game plan and defence is mediocre and gets found out in big tough games. How many games won against top 8? Not many.
This, and Beveridge is limited as a coach. Why not accept this instead of looking for scapegoats .

Sure, playing players who skipped the country and went on a bender before a final is obviously best practice and likely to help win said final.
