Julie was last seen leaving the Parmelia Hilton Hotel WA at 12.30am on 20 June 1988 after a staff function. Her car was found 2 days later in the sea off Cottesloe Beach.

Police ruled out suicide because Ms Cutler’s body would have been washed ashore if she had driven the car into the surf.

A year later, a white Parmelia Hilton uniform blouse was handed in to police.

The blouse was a size 14 — Ms Cutler’s size — and was one of 37 made exclusively for the hotel’s staff.

It had been found about the time Ms Cutler went missing with a pair of black pantyhose in a plastic bag under a table at the King Kebab takeaway in Centreway Arcade, Perth, a five-minute walk from the Parmelia Hilton.

Police said Ms Cutler was believed to have been carrying the bag after changing into a black evening dress.

The 22-year-old former theatre student at the West Australian Institute of Technology, now Curtin University, had found work at the Parmelia Hilton Hotel in Perth’s CBD.

In late May or early June, Julie rang her father to report an alarming incident in which she had been driving home in her Fiat sedan from work along the Stirling Highway.

Julie told her father, Roger, that a car had followed her closely for several kilometres along Stirling Highway, almost touching her rear bumper at times and seemed to be trying to force her off the road.

As she approached a turn-off in the beachside suburb of Cottesloe, the car pulled alongside and then suddenly veered in front of her.

Ms Cutler swerved around it and sped away, later reporting the incident to police.

As her stepsister related, years later, she called “extremely upset. She thought whoever was in the car wanted to run her off the road or force her to pull over.”

Wondering why there wasn't a Coroner's Inquest for Julie Cutler's disappearance but there was for Robyn Santen.

I dare as stated above, Julie Cutlers case is considered not suicide. Robyn Santens case was suspected suicide by the Coronal office given her mental health.

But when you consider the number of mentally ill, many people are mentally ill. The police don't have a body, but it is highly suspected Robyn Paton committed suicide.With the coronal inquest, they have come to the conclusion that the likely outcome is suicide.

What they are saying, is it is almost certain Robyn is dead.

How do they know Robyn entered the water?

The Coroner found that the death of the deceased has been proved beyond all reasonable doubt. The Coroner concluded that the deceased entered the water at City Beach but it was not possible to find whether the deceased drowned, was taken by a marine predator or died from some other cause. The Coroner could not be satisfied to any degree of certainty of the deceased’s intention when she entered the water or thereafter and made an open finding as to how death occurred.

Depression and anxiety affect over one third of the population, it's so common in fact I'm baffled why there is still a stigma attached to it.

Not ever likely to get any answers on this one considering the coroner's findings. No sign of criminal inteference he said but that doesn't mean there wasn't. No evidence either that Robyn Santen was actually the person who sent the "F*** you" text message to her husband when earlier text messages as far as I know were quite friendly. And no body.

Nowhere though to go with this now unless something or someone else comes forward with new information.

Superintendent Ron Carey, who investigated the case, said the back seat of the car had been washed out of the vehicle and was found on a nearby beach.

"If the back seat could wash out why didn't Julie's body if she was in the car? Why didn't her shoes, handbag or some other item of property wash up?" he said while being interviewed for the Channel Nine documentary "To Catch a Killer" ten years ago.

"I believe she was never in the car when it went off Cottesloe Groyne. I believe that Julie was murdered and that the body was buried or secreted somewhere else before the car was dumped in the ocean."

Maybe one day we will hear about the victims backgrounds, which we know absolutely nothing about.

There is another ramp there to enter the beach, which enable driving down the beach into the water , or off a reef ledge, into the water.

There's a few ways to get onto that beach but the service roads either side of what's now the Indiana Tea Rooms imo are the most likely. It was launched off either one of those platforms and the front tyres would have hit the water straight up.

It didn't have to go over the groyne to smash the roof down like a pancake, it was already a damaged rust bucket.

Ok, so 1988 is coincidently the year of Bicentennial celebrations. Centenary Avenue, opposite Centenary Park was given that name for a reason.

The FIAT is easy. If you have ever been surfing you'll know, that being immersed in the water when being dumped has the power and weight 20X the atmosphere. It takes only a small swell over a couple of days to pummel the car, rusted or not. The car becomes as heavy as the water inside it, and the force, the water surrounding the car. The officer explained the car seat.

The car was probably driven into the ocean to destroy DNA evidence. Few extra dents to disguise being run off the road? Talk about washing machine.

I have a feeling the dead body weeks later is a suicide drowning, but it could be related. I remember pondering it at the time.
*Naked body sounds a bit suss. The problem is, we are not told about suicide, so everyone presumes suicide. It went quiet quick which is usually a good indicator. From memory, and welcomed to be corrected, but sure there was a statement of suicide. Which is why I let it go at the time.

Criminals often borrow other people's cars. It might have been a rally Corolla.

We're talking about 1988. I've seen the metal bucket racing seats, you can still get them. There's probably tougher regulations now but take the cover off those things and they will be all steel, or all rubber. They're not allowed to break up IIRC.
And a requirement to have them bolted into the floor or something.
