I wonder about the wisdom of having a jumper being two distinct colours front to back

Ditched the royal blue this yearDo Melbourne have three guernseys? Home, home with red back, and royal blue?
But it was so perfect (as a clash). Why???Ditched the royal blue this year
All of us actives on the FJGD board will take that comment as a badge of pridenot just the jumper nuffies.
It was definitely a term of endearment. All of us actives on the FJGD board will take that comment as a badge of pride

Forced West Coast into wearing their indigenous jumper.Cheers. It kinda boggles the mind that it’s approved as a clash strip.

It's a very specific clash jumper too. Only for when they play teams with a light front and dark back? So Collingwood?

No it didn't - the Eagles asked to wear the indigenous jumper. Redback doesn't clash with our Home jumper (neither does Dees home)Forced West Coast into wearing their indigenous jumper.
Why not be like every sport in the world, every team have a home and away jumper? Simples.
Not all clubs do though and that's the problem. Some clubs have clash jumpers which solve clashes for some teams, and create more problems with others. Melbourne's clash just won't work against other red teams. It'll be interesting to see Carlton vs Melbourne on July 7th. Their clash jumper only fixes the back, the front is still largely navy vs navy. Carlton home game, so they won't be wearing their grey jumper.Other sports specify colour for home and then have a different away.
Meaning we would all have to have white home jerseys.
We have that system currently (home/away/clash)

Edit - Looks like Melbouirne still have the royal blue clash then? So the red back is a backup if the first two don't work I guess?

Collingwood's clash strip does the trick perfectly. They actually are different.Yeah its a bit confusing.
mainly because the AFL are too spineless to tell certain teams that they must have a clash that is actually DIFFERENT to their current guernsey.
No Collingwood, white with black and black with white are not different.
Here's some from a few weeks agoSo why wasn't it worn in the bottom one, which quite frankly is confusing AF.
The one that is clearly more recent.
