I would be giving #1 a rest for a season until the stench of Go Homes has gone.

Jackson Paine's description on Twitter is "Brisbane Lions #39"
And Jordan Bourke's is #22 but that might just be his age - unless Paparone is upgrading.

any word from those 'insiders' on when the club will be announcing jumper numbers and/or changes of numbers.

seems everyone else is well into it, with todd banfield being number 22 at richmond announced less than 24 hours after being recruited.

i agree with those who say blacky's number should be retired as a mark of respect unless he himself allocates the number to a player he considers potentially worthy enough to wear it. i also agree with the number one being rested for the reasons cited.

we wait to see what happens ...

The jumper numbers are close to being finalised and will be officially revealed early next week.

Obviously there are plenty to go around with 13 new players at the Club in 2014.

I can also give you a bit of a hint that one of the existing senior players has opted for change as well to a more 'fashionable' number.

Good to have you back LI!

Hope it's not Rocky, my wife won't be too happy about unpicking youngest son's 38 and restitching a new number ...;)

Cheers Lions_Insider

If Rocky changes his jumper to #1 we can assume that he's starting to feel a little homesick and that he wants to spend time with his ailing grandmother in Benalla very soon?

This was my very first guess. He has a healthy enough ego to believe the club's leader (future leader) should be number one.
I've never taken too much notice of numbers or there significance, is there a particular number that has been popular/much sought after at the Lions? (Fashionable)

I imagine 3 is our 'prime' number, pun intended.

Our most successful is probably 16. No Brisbane Lions player who has worn 16 has failed to win the club championship, I think.

(now someone will point out that someone had it between Doc and Browny and I will look foolish.)

I can confirm it's NOT Rocky. He loves the #38 too much and is determined to break former Fitzroy star (and Rockliff's former VIC Country coach) Leon Harris' record number of games in that particular guernsey. He's still 103 short.

Leon actually issued the challenge to Rocky when he presented him with his debut guernsey back in 2009.

You're not just a pretty face, LI.

So who could it be:

Most likely is probably 47 'Crispy Chicken'

Don't think its Clarkie because he has the answer to Life the Universe and Everything - 42

Could be 'Happy Days' Mayes because he wants to Trump 'Aish of spades'

Maybe Pearce because so many commentators eyes are going bad that the close ones looke like a ONE anyway, and he's just signed for 5 years so thats the best way to clean out any negative vibes of the No 1 recent history

Other option is Mitch - but i got nothing for him (sorry mitch, didn't mean it kike that- just go well :)
