Ex-Middlesbrough star Juninho set for Australia move
tribalfooball.com - July 30, 2007

Former Middlesbrough and Brazil star Juninho is being lined up for a move to Australia.
Sydney FC are understood to be moving for the veteran midfielder as their marquee signing for the coming A-League season.

Juninho was eager to return to Europe this year, but failed to win a move to Hull City in England. A move to Sydney is now on after the Australian club was rejected by new Cardiff City signing Robbie Fowler.

Seriously though, kudos to Sydney, it is only going to promote the league further. They have signed the two biggest names that the competition has had in Juninho and Yorke, they still won't win but well done to them!

Hernandez will rip Juninho to pieces nowadays, Juninho will be ok but he is going to get bums on seats because of his name.

Victory don't need to recruit big names because our supporters come to games eitherway.

Losing Milligan and Carney (which will happen) are just gonna make you weaker!

good signing by sydney... he'll do better than fowler would have if he'd joined..

It's interesting how the two biggest clubs in the a-league have taken completely opposite approaches to recruiting. Melbourne methodically scour the globe to secure players who have small reputations, but are big on talent, while sydney sees reputation and spectacle as the main prerequisite.

With a title each to their name, it'll be interesting to see which team's approach yields the most trophys in the next five-ten years.

Simple really

As much as I hate Melbourne - their supporters filled the stadium even the year they were last

Sydney people like big name or winner and if you cant win they wont turn up

Here is some video of the little man himself. Some great memories for Boro fans in here :thumbsu:

He's going to make it just that little bit harder to hate Sydney this year. :p

I can't wait to see him play in a Sydney FC shirt and whats more we Sydney fans might have even more reasons to celebrate. see below http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/58139,sydney-look-west.aspx with news of maybe more signings. Also be ware that we are looking for another striker and have been looking at South America and Africa for him. I heard something about an African or brazillian youngster who trailled for some dutch teams but was also considering the A-league. Sydney do have plans to fill in the gap left by David Carney and also find a good striker who can partner with Steve Corica

Yep, Sydney would be wasting their time with Taribo. Have they lost faith in Mark Rudan? One of Sydney's most consistent players, now replaced by Popovic as captain.
