I can't see it working out. He had a good year when he was the focal point in the forward line and everyone else had to work around him, but that's not going to happen with Clark, Hogan, Daves and Howe down there. He was never a structure player and at times we accommodated him a little too much.

No guarantee he'd come back and stick it out, no guarantee he'd play near the level he was at when he was in his prime. We don't need another med/tall forward in the mix, especially one who is going to struggle to adapt to a forward line that doesn't revolve around him.

But I get where you guys are coming from.
I for one would be rapt if he came back. To me he has the x factor. He needs to be harnassed and given a minder, perhaps Flash. If we could get him and Garlett, we'd have that small forward we need and in Jurrah well I'd try to build his tank and use him as a roving forward or let him mix it across the centre. We need to take a risk and not be so conservative. We have been conservative 4 the last 50 yrs, time to embrace change.

I f'ing hate the term 'X Factor'. No such thing. Seems to get used in place of a combination of speed, skill and presence of mind.

Jurrah was the focal point of the line when he was playing well for us. He was left in space and allowed to do as he pleased in the 50 while the others worked up the field, partly because he didn't have the tactical discipline to do anything else. See ball, get ball, do something with it. Don't see that fitting in with Clark, Dawes, Hogan, etc.

Also fail to see why Davey talking to Jurrah every now and again is going to make a difference? Jurrah had language difficulties, but aren't there about a thousand different dialects used in the bush by the indigenous folk?

Just realised I repeated pretty much what I said the first time around. Anyway, as decent a player as Jurrah is, tell me where he fits in to the system?

Jurrah never had the volume of delivery that guys termed "focal point" had. he was our best guy at capitalising from a fast break but that 's about it.

In a lot of ways, Jurrah summed up all that was wrong with the Bailey tenure, lots of hoping, improvising and general reliance on the 'x-factor' getting us over the line. Very little structure or disciplined set plays.

Should we get Roos (please someone let me know if this has already been made official) I think his philosophies are polar opposite, don't need to be flashy if you have a system that holds up.

Probably wouldn't be the correct move though, in terms of culture and the obvious risk involved. Wouldn't paint a pretty picture if he were to return, only to fall back into trouble. Not a good look for the club imo.

But to answer your question? There was an incredible amount of joy in anytime Liam Jurrah would take the field. You never knew what you were going to get, but there was always a sense that something special was about to occur. And that was Liam. That was the 'X-Factor', as most others have referred to him as being. One hell of an excitement machine. But is he worth the risk, and does he deserve the second chance? Hard to say.

It's not as if our list is bursting with players who can kick, mark or have his balance. So I for one want him back, if the club had been more proactive maybe he'd still be on the list.

I personally don't want Jurrah back.

I have some sympathy for what happened in his home town. But are people forgetting he assaulted up to three women and drove intoxicated?
