Bit unfair the 2, Jurrah is older than Naitanui by a couple
of years.

Both didnt have a pre-season and Jurrah was streets ahead,
so definately both players can improve.

Jurrah has all the skills and athletism - its all controlled
and not raw, its all refined, his ceiling is untapped because
of what he has done in 09 without a pre-season.

Naitunui didnt have a pre-season either and entered the
season late.
He didnt do a lot, doesnt have much in terms of skills, the
debate should be - will Naitanui be as skillful as jurrah in a couple
of years, the answer would be an empathic no.

Jurrah will be a star, nearly already is, absolutely untapped because
he is not only an athletic freak - but he has unique skills.

Naitanui is rated highly by WC fans, Jurrah is rated highly by
the whole football community.

I sure hope that Yarran turns out to be better than both of them.

Lol at the irony of these MFB supporters. They claim Spartan is repeating the same shit when they themselves are:

'ooooooo we had injuries....we would have made the finals......'

'oooooo potaita cant mark or kick roflz'

The fact of the matter is, Naitanui has shown a lot of talent in his first year. Now add that to the fact that a ruckman takes on average 4 years to develop, shows that he has the potential to be one of the greatest influences in a match. And yes he has been featured in the best over our last couple of wins of the season, ffs what do you think that means? That he played shit?

Please stop trying to make yourselves feel better by bagging one of our own, its pathetic.

I can't believe I just wasted 10 mins reading some of this garbage.

Jurrah is the bigger bargain being picked up in the PSD.

Natanui will be a much better ruckman than Jurrah and has enormous upside. Jurrah will be a better forward that Nicnat and has enormous upside.

Both clubs would love to have both of them.

Why can't there be more Melbourne supporters like you?

Factual like the claim that Matthews said something he didn't actually say, for instance? :D

 Unfortunately Matthews did say that while commentating a game. He has said that and he has also said in the 3 games Watts played he didn't see why he was taken at pick #1.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it didn't happen. :o

There is hope yet for Melbourne supporters.

If by WC fans you mean the media, ex-players, ex-coaches, the general football public.. then yes.. i agree. :thumbsu:

Matthews today on AFL.com.au:

"Leigh Matthews: On Watts - I made the observation that he was no way near capable of playing at senior level at that point of his development. Nothing more, nothing less."

Too bad Spartan.

Too bad for what?

He said it during the game and i wasn't the only one who heard it.

Plus he was right, Watts wasn't ready for AFL. You guys rushed him in. Tried to cash in on some hype for the Queens birthday game and then quietly snuck him out the back door.

I wonder why Melbourne haven't developed any real talent in the last few years. How dod your last #1 pick go?

Matthews confirming what he really meant by his Watts comment.

This isn't Bay 13 mate.

Trav played some wonderful seasons for us (4th in a brownlow) but it really isn't our fault he is a lazy footballer. We have developed a shitload of talent in the last few years, especially since Bailey has come onboard.

How did Michael Gardiner go?

meh, I don't really give a shit, just pointing out that the mud has been thrown by both sides in this silly argument.

I love watching Jurrah play, I also love watching Natainui play. Watts is also going to be a gun, bad luck to all those out there calling him a dud.

Another interesting comment from Matthews in the West Coast chat.

Leigh Matthews: Hi Mick - I think all parts of players games will generally improve with experience. Compared to Rich most players in the game are poor kicks. A poor kick at 18 might improve but will still normally be a poor kick at 25.

What has this got to do with what Spartan said?

WC fans rate Naita highly based on potential, Jurrah is rated based on performance to date.

Funny that, you Melbourne fans rate Watts highly based on potential too, no?

Jurrah is ahead of Naitanui at the moment and you would expect him to be give his age. But Naitanui has shown glimpses of his freak talent over the 10 games apart from his excellent ruckwork which he has been praised for accordingly by various people in the media. Now, what is wrong with that?

Yeah you've go it wrong his words were...

"he has does nothing to show why he was taken as the number 1 pick" or very close to that.

For the record the comment was accurate but probably unnecessary... but we played him before he was ready and we have to cop the criticism on the chin.

While I have the audience of West Coast supporters whilst we were never realistically going to threaten for finals in 09 our injury list was horrendous. With close to a full list next year and some of our high draft picks in thier 2nd,3rd and 4th year we should get roughly the same result as you guys this year.

And I expect very little from Jack Watts again this year other than a few glimpses.

Cheers

Matthews confirming what he really meant by his Watts comment.

In an interview about Melbourne done weeks after he made the original comment. Did you think he was going to come out and bag Watts?

He clearly said "Watts hasn't shown anything to date to suggest going at pick #1" or words to that effect.

This isn't Bay 13 mate.

Agreed, yet you feel the need to rubbish Naitanui as a spud when he clearly isn't.

Trav played some wonderful seasons for us (4th in a brownlow) but it really isn't our fault he is a lazy footballer. We have developed a shitload of talent in the last few years, especially since Bailey has come onboard.

Like?

This decade who have you developed that have been classed as elite players?

Judd, Cousins, Kerr, Cox and Glass are a few names that come to mind from WCE.

How did Michael Gardiner go?

Made the AA team, career suffered due to knee injuries.

meh, I don't really give a shit, just pointing out that the mud has been thrown by both sides in this silly argument.

Agreed.

Something else i can agree with. Well atleast up till the last sentence. ;)

WC fans rate Naita highly based on potential, Jurrah is rated based on performance to date.

This is why i have to repeat myself.

The media rate Naitanui - He was listed in the game's best player 4 out of 10 games.

The game rates Naitanui - He won a game off his own boot against Hawthorn and beat McIntosh, Ryder, Hudson and Simmonds to finish the season.

Ex players and Ex-coaches rate him - Matthews, Sheedy, Hird, Buckley and even die-hard WCE haters Shaw and Walls rate his performances as well as his potential.

Try again.

"he has does nothing to show why he was taken as the number 1 pick" or very close to that.

yeah he said that after his first game - a game where we get flogged and he kicked 2 anyway... i wouldn't even expect a comment like that from some of the utter flogs on this website

yep you're a genius Lethal, Dean Bailey says hi for gifting us Jack Grimes by the way

lethal's already gone the way of sheedy, lost their grip on the game but still desperate to be paid attention to. Flogs.

They are not the words you used before. The worst kind of troll is one who rewrites history.

What the?

I have always said those were the words Matthews said.

W=F said that Matthews said something else in the recent AFL.com article.

I actually originally said exactly what you said a post ago.
