Soccer fan here, in regards to the premise of a Champions League loan this isn't a thing. The Champions League matches take part throughout the regular season and not as a finals tournament at the end of the domestic campaign as the OP seems to think. Any player being loaned for a champions league campaign would be required for the full season as it is impossible to represent two teams simultaneously.

A system in which players can be loaned in for finals wouldn't be a great idea here IMO but a loaning system that clubs could use for injuries they couldn't really cover for within their own list, e.g a shortage of ruckman could potentially work.

As long as the loan is from a non-AFL team.

Yeahh, hat's what I was thinking too. Didn't Essendon do something like this in pre season?

I wouldn't be against a system that allowed AFL listed players to be eligible if they hadn't yet played a senior game that season though tbh.

just to everyone's satisfaction I have indeed done some research and what I said had been somewhat correct

If a team is playing Champions league and they loan a player for 3 or so games in that competition that player must not have served in the competition prior, so if it was a player from Manchester Uniter since they didn't play champions league, say a club like Juventus wanted to borrow a player they have to pay a fee to the club and pay wages for those matches, but yes I suppose looking back I should have done my homework a little more.

definitely agree but though looking back it may never work in a single tier competition, Mods feel free to delete since a lot of people are having a go at me my questions and opinions are invalid so feel free to get rid of it, I will do my best not to ask for opinions any longer.

Nah its a valid suggestion. I may not agree with the actual proposal, but I agree with the idea that the AFL should look at ways to improve player movement.

(don't worry, this thread deserves to be here, and is much less cringeworthy than one I started after the loss to Port :( - if theres a thread that deserves to be deleted it's that one)

I was just floating an idea on our board, what's your problem?
Had a shit day at work with people quoting things that were not even close like what you did. It was easier to take it out on you then on them. But reading the comments surely by now you realize that your assumption to compare your idea with soccer was plainly wrong. And all you had to do was Google the answer and it would have taken an extra five minutes of your time.

Surely there are better ways to relieve stress?
