Just gutted

Personally i expected it. I dont think we are a top 8 side YET. I think the only reason we are pushing for a spot is because so many sides are on the decline or are just now bottoming out. We havent beaten anyone above us (except pies :p) and have lost games that we should have won (ie bombers twice, tigers) we will be better next year and again the year after.

One thing though.......whoever our backline coach/specialist is should be given the arse. 4 guys up at every contest and nobody at the base of the pack see's other teams mop up the crumbs for an easy goal every week.
The kick-ins are a joke.
Players constantly led to the ball.
Players constantly losing their man in traffic.
Poor tackling.
and very little accountability.

Cloke,Waite had shockers imo.

Gibbs,Betts and Judd looked good

Well clearly you are correct because we are still 9th or 10th but that doesn't mean we can't be a top 8 side.

Surely the other teams in the top 8 aren't invincible you negative self-flagellating fools.

Of course they aren't invincible, you moron. But we are not at that level just yet (note: just yet - with a full side we might be, but not the 22 that ran out tonight). If you can't see the problems, you are blind. Care to explain why we've been down at 3 quarter week against the Saints, Tigers, Bombers, Pies and Power? Our forward line structure is clearly lacking and our midfield lacks consistency over four quarters (when we are on, we look fantastic, but we concede goals far too easily, undoing that good work).

I'm not saying we're a bottom four side - clearly we're not, but we're also short of being a top 8 side. A win tonight and we'd have been in the eight, but it'd have been another week of looking past issues which need to be addressed if we're to make serious inroads into September.

All my extended family are St Kilda fans, along with my parents, but I bravely wore my Blues scarf to my cousin's 21st tonight, hoping for a season defining win.
While I couldn't watch the game, I had live updates on my phone, which obviously got worse and worse for me as the night went on.

Why is it that the Saints players always play the games of their lives against us, and our boys always seem to have average nights.
I'm sick of losing to these pretenders, made all the worse by me being told to draw an 'L' on my forehead as I left the party, along with the bloody security whistling 'Oh when the Saints' to me as I left.
If there is one team that we need to destroy next time we play them, it's St Kilda, who are simply not good enough to warrant their recent dominence over us.

P.S. There may be some alcohol related ramblings within this post.

Plus 2 from 50m penalties. Plus one that was awarded a goal that clearly hit the post. That's almost two thirds of your goals from umpires.

The umps certainly weren't the reason you lost.

The one that hit the post was doubtful, have to agree with you.

However the rest were legitimate.

We attacked the ball harder in the first quarter and did not capitalise.

You got a run on before and after half time.

We looked like taking it back in the last quarter and you held sway.

Our execution was not as good as yours on the night.

Seriously your the most negative supporter on here.
We're all disapointed tonight but one loss and heads should roll and all of a sudden players are crap and can't play AFL football??

What did bentick do wrong tonight??? Certainly wasn't our worst, had a good game!

And there's no point blaming the umpires..........you win some and lose some thats the way it goes.

Credit to SAINTS, more matured bodies and just made better decisions under pressure than us, HOWEVER, if they do make the finals they will do NOTHING. Against top teams they will get smashed just as we would have, not impressed at all with their game style.

In hindsight Sentanta probably should have came back in, would'e allowed us more flexibility.

Cloke also struggled against a quality ruckman, but hampson would have got smashed tonight as well, so we just have to wait until we develop physically, no quick fix for that.

Certainly no need to feel gutted the future is bright.

Am AB's publicist but there is no way that he was ok tonight
There has to be a quick fix to the ruck - Saints were much smarter than us to pick up King

We got within 7 points, there was a familiar feeling pumping through my veins when Waite slotted his goal in the 4th.

C'MON YOU BASTARDS! I screamed at the top of my lungs, I could feel the momentum swaying in our favour, Eddie Betts had pushed it up a notch, and the smell of Saint blood was in the air. Then all it took was a shoddy play on CHB and the momentum was back in the Aints favour... did it hurt? Like masturbating with a cheese grater.... YES IT DID.

Why do small forwards slip under our radar so easily? Monfries and Jetta had us on a platter a few rounds ago, then Milne tonight. He was still able to slot one through after fumbling around like a virgin in need of a vagina horn to guide his knob in.

I have one word to summarise my frustration.

Friggin hell that loss hurt more than the loss against the Bombers a few rounds ago;
Ugly turnovers cost us;
Chris Judd, Bryce Gibbs and Heath Scotland were sensational;
Kreuzer could do with a bit of a rest.

That is all... oh except for... FFFFFFFFFF@@@@@@@@@@@@###########KKKKKKKKKKKK!!!

Yet my faith and resilience has never been stronger... CARN YOU BLUE BOYS!

You had your chances in the last quarter but your kickin to your leading forwards was atrocious. Just kept goin over their heads.
Plus, i reckon u dont have enough " muscle" and get bumped off the ball a bit easy.

Cloke - worst game i have seen- smashed by King
Anderson- Just can't kick, did he actually hit one target?
Russell - lost all one on ones and looked average all game.can't kick a goal
Carazzo - smashed by Milne - average game
Waite - Smashed by Reiwoldt-went forward and fumbled-Did he do anything right?
Fevola - Grrrrrrrrrrr-is he back on the piss?
Grigg - Is he up to AFL standards yet? why does he keep getting games.
Fisher - I have never seen anyone fall so much going for the mark- Someones got to tell him Keep your feet Son. and cant kick past 30m
I'm sure i missed someone!
Murphy - Tagged out of the game
Stevens - average game
Thorton - Back to kicking school
Bentick - 11 possesions for the game

Judd - Superstar
Gibbs - SUperstar apprentice
Scotland - Mr Reliable
Betts - Tried hard

Carlton should spend all off season teaching these kids how to kick the ball
Overall a pretty average game and we still got pretty close, Go The Blues!

I wouldn't be to harsh on grigg he is out there to tag and not go get the ball himself. I think he actually did a half decent job on dal santo

I guess the best thing we can come away with from that is....almost everyone was below par last night. Yet we only lost by 5 goals.

TBH we have been playing patchy like this all year, in a way it's probably a good thing in the long run that we didn't complete the comeback. It's not healthy relying on last quarter comebacks every week.

We are still lacking on the fundamentals, which will come with another pre-season and time given to the younger guys....we aren't too far off it we will beat the saints next year bookmark it ;)

You won't be a top 8 side this year. Apart from the Pies have you beaten any other top 8 side? We both know games against the Pies are a raffle similar to games against the Bombers, Tigers.
The tall timber is a major concern for the Blues. Wiggins and Russell are liabilities. Need to be shipped off.

Your B & F from last year is a big worry also. Should have been traded last year. Poor player with shocking disposal. Edwards and Anderson won't take you anywhere.
Apart from a few over excited fans the majority of Blues fans are not thinking finals in a development year.I agree with you about Russell and Carrazzo but could we give Edwards and Anderson a few games first

I must say I think people are a bit harsh on Grigg.
He is trying to find his role at the moment. He will be a gun!Just give him some time
Oh and I forgot EddieB

Same. Absolutely gutted. One of the hardest losses of the year. Very disappointed.

Want something to cheer you up?

Your list is better than the pies list by a street. Even though you have the wood over the pies now, expect yourself to smash them for many years.

Just too many poor errors last night, but that will come good in a couple of years.

Patience

Somewhat enjoyable but mostly painful

Pyro - unlike you to get emotional

I am feeling exactly what the thread title says. Thought it was a game we could have stolen to prove we had really turned the corner - not with a last quarter come back but a good 4 quarter win - we started well but couldnt kick a goal.

Disappointed but i am not turning on any of the players over one game. Fisher is having a shocking year - what is going on there...anyone?

Gibbs was awesome - really looked as though he and couple others were going to get us up.

Needed Armfield tonight to play on Milne - thought he would have done the job.

Needed Hayes to redo his hammy in the cold weather - didnt happen.

Juddy is brilliant - but i notice he is not going on many pacey runs through the line and when he does - he kicks it 20m. Im hoping the pre season will get this back.

I would like to see Austin in the side in the last few games at CHB. Next four weeks we have some tough games but it would be a good test for him.

Jamo was awesome, even with a crook shoulder. Saw him grabbing at it a couple of times. Thought he contested really well with Saint Nick in the last half. We have a great defender there (not biased at all), loved to see him breaking of half back with a couple of bounces delivering to Fev.

Fish- I think all he wants to do is take marks surrounded by two players with his long arms. He gets up the ground a bit but when does he get on the lead in the fwd 50? He crumbs a bit but not as well as EddieB. With all due respect Eddie and Fish seem intent on trying to win mark and goal of the year instead of playing the fundamentals.
His kicking speaks for itself. He has a great player inside him but seems confused about how to play.

I'm getting sick of some of our "supporters" All I hear is negitive Rubbish. Get an idea of what the term supporter means

I think there are people here who do a lot more than that champ. We are just analyzing things. Nothing wrong with that. not really Negative but constructive I hope
