sweety could u put other in next time please. cos in all seriousness i am not that fond of essendon. its not cos of what goes on here or the gf last year. i just dont like them, simple as that, never have never will. so yeah i aint gonna vote on this one.

7 people have voted "who are essendon".. my point exactly..bad thread..
we know they are the best team in the comp, and were last year aswell..so really, people that voted "who are essendon" dont watch enough footy obviously.. or need to take the blinkers off...
if people took this seriously, and voted properly, it wouldnt be so bad.. but that will never happen.. it cant be taken seriously if your an opposition supporter..

I gave them 9...high I know but the last two times we have played them the skill level has amazed me, absolutely sensational.
However, to get a 10 they still have to win AT LEAST 2 flags in a row, probably 3 and make 7 GF's in a row at the least before they can be considered along side the 3 truly great sides: Collingwood of the 30's, Melbourne of the 50's and Hawthorn of the 80's.

The 2000 team was possibly the greatest team ever, but realistically, you've got to treat each year separately, because each year presents a different playing list and different circumstances.
The 1999, 2000 and 2001 Bomber teams were all different.

Still, you could begin to start asking these questions of the Brisbane Lions too. The way things are looking, we could be in for quite a few years of success. That's not being arrogant - merely making a judgement on the current crop of players, the excellent list, and coaching staff.

How the hell could you say Adelaide in 1997 or 1998 was the greatest team ever? They lost 9 games in '97 and 10 in '98.
Hopefully Essendon's era will continue (nothing's certain of course.) If we can continue to win, say 16+ home and away games a year for the next few years (which would be a great achievement), and if we can continue to make the Preliminary Final or better, and therefore win a couple of premierships, ours could be considered as good as some of the other great era's.
Because of the nature of the competition, it will always be harder to MAKE the Grand Final, because to do so, you have to go through an elimination match just to make it. That means, to make 7 consecutve Grand Finals, you will have to win 7 conseutive knockout Preliminary Finals. In the old days, you didn't have to do that.
So, if we can continue to win games and finish high on the ladder, I think our era could potentially be as good as any other (in terms of games won).
The key is not winning the premiership every year, or even making the Grand Final every year. The key is putting yourself up there with a chance every year, by winning 80-85% of your games.
The key is winning plenty of hoem and away games, and then hoping like hell that things go your way in September.

The North and Adelaide teams didnt have alot of Overrated hacks.
