This is HUGE news, because she is supposed to die in Episode III. Flashback scene perhaps?

KICK ASS!!!! THe Ultimate Edition is gonna rock!

Not doing as well at the Box Office as i thought it would which is disappointing. Although its the second fastest film to cross 200 million behind Spiderman, the experts said its 61 million in its second weekend is behind Episodes 1 take of 66 million in its second weekend so they think it wont match Episode I's take of 431 million.

Goes to show that this movie is targetted at adults and star wars fans rather than kids...which IMO is fantastic, i dont care if it doesnt break records or beat Spiderman! Just aslong as it was better than Episode I and got back to the original feel of Star Wars!

Should still easily cruise by 400 million though...

yes it did on that weekend..

star wars ep2 weekend $47.5, total $202.5m
spider-man weekend $28.5 total $334.30m

I love that scene where Jar Jar is talking to Padme about how honoured he is to be her representative in the Senate

Jar Jar: Meesa very honoured to be your....blah...blah
Padme: (interrupting) Jar Jar, you've got a lot of work to do, maybe you should go and do it now (or words to that effect)

A very subtle way of putting the sentiment "Shut up Jar Jar!" in the script! Wonderful!

I went to see Episode II again yesterday. However, it seemed to be missing part of dialogue in the scene where Anakin states to Padme that he "took out" the Tuskan Raiders.

Right after he says this we're onto the next scene. I missed out on Padme telling Anakin that he's only human, and that he was acting on emotion, the Imperial March comes on, etc.

Well I was abit aggreved about this, as it was one of the best scenes in film.

Would anybody know how this could happen? Was there a reel change stuff-up or something?

Here are some things I picked up on my second viewing.

*You'll notice the chair Chancellor Palpatine is sitting on in his office is basically the same design as the one we see in the Throne Room on the second Death Star in ROTJ.

*The guards in Palpatines office are exactly the same as those as we see in the Throne Room in ROTJ. They wore red clothing and had red helmets and stood near the doorway. They were called Imperial Guards in Ep.VI so it would be safe to assume that they would be called Republican Guards in Ep.II?

*You can see the future imperial logo on clone army soldiers and think I saw them on battle ships.

I also bought the soundtrack aswell. I really like the "Love Theme". It's a great piece of music.

I wonder if they'll make an ultimate edition soundtrack just like they did with TPM. Does anyone know if there are any plans?

Coxy...THE blockbuster of the year has already come out...Spiderman is it, its broken every record there is to break?? They also think it could make 500 million in its run which will be only the second film in history to do so behind Titanic which made over 600 million!

Yes it did but Spidey has been out for 4 weeks to Episode II's 2 weeks, so obviously more people havent seen Episode II yet. However to be making 20+million in your 4th weekend is astounding.

Satay, if you think the film doesn't have a plot, then you did not watch it properly. The plot is extremely complicated, and takes at least two viewings to take it all in.

Also, the film is NOT made for merchandising. They never have been. When the original film came out, the toys were only released after the movie was successful (about 6 months after). In a fictional galaxy, of thousands of planets, thousands of species and thousands of spaceships, it's common-sense to show them in the background, and during scenes. What do you want them to do? Have no aliens, or no ships flying about? Working in retail I can also GUARANTEE that the toys of Episode II are limited. They do not have action figures and ship designs for EVERY thing that you see in the movie.

The story always comes first in Star Wars, but with Lucas's vivd imagination, there are many things he likes to add, first for whimsy, and secondly for his psychological eccentricities. In the special editon re-release of Star Wars, for instance, he added Dewbacks on Tatooine. He wanted to add these ceatures to the environment to give a random, real world feel to everything. The fact you could buy them in shops is beside the point. It's a huge galaxy of thousands of creatures. We NEED to be shown the variety to appreciate the diversity of the galaxy that we are being shown. The background effects, and creatures add to the scenery and the "feel" that you are in another place, another time. What are you being critical of the asteroid scene for? And the factory scene? These were exciting set-pieces. Sure, you could have dispensed with them, but then the movie would lose two action set pieces. They are not essential to the film, from a story point of view, but that's also the case in any movie with an action set-piece. They are good for the film. It's like adding fries to a hamburger. It makes a good meal better. Would you have preferred two hours of politics in the senate instead?

If you wanted to show the movie to an 8 year old, they wouldn't have a clue what was going on. They'd love the lightsabre fights, and the chases, but they wouldn't understand the story, and the political subterfuge that the entire war was based on. The orginal Star Wars movie was good guys vs bad guys. This one is far more complex. We don't even know who the bad guys are, Satay!! Not yet, anyway.

Can I add though, originally FOX wouldn't give him enough money to produce the film....so, George asked for merchandising rights for all Star Wars movies (this was before the first one was made). Of course George didn't know it would become a phenomenon, BUT, I think he did foresee that merchandising could become a factor.

However, even with that said, I thoroughly enjoyed Episode II.

Same Old's,

There is some talk of John Williams recording the Imperial March to be inserted into A New Hope

The Imperial March first appeared in Episode V.

Agree with you about the love theme. Magnificent piece of music.

Yeah Dan,read that about Portman signing for some scenes to be added in for Episode 6. Also read that filming for Episode 3 will begin around June of next year.
Another little interesting quote I found is from Samuel L Jackons regarding his death in the next film
Jackson on dieing:
Jackson knows only one thing about his character's fate. "I die in the next film. But I want to have a say in it," insists Jackson. "When I go, I don't want to get shot in the back by some bounty hunter-little Bobo twerp. When I go I, want to be facing him, and he has to be better than me."QUOTE]

Also, one other thing, I heard that Lucas did a little Hitchcook type cameo in one of the senate scenes, albeit only the back of his head and I'm not sure which senate scene it is.

Yeah, Lucas is in one of the Senate scenes. In fact, Anthony Daniels (C-3PO without the mask) and Ahmed Best (Jar Jar) make cameos as normal people in the Coruscant nightclub.

I was also looking through the Episode 2 Visual Dictionary today, and noticed something that I don't think many would notice. On page 22, there is a picture of many vials and bottles and such from the Nightclub bar. One of the captions is pointing to a vial and is labeled "Aludium pu-36."

There was a famous Looney Tunes cartoon directed in 1958, which I'm sure we've all seen, in which Bugs Bunny thwarts Marvin the Martian's plans to blow up the Earth with his "Aludium pu-36 Explosive Space Modulator," which looks suspiciously like a stick of dynamite!

I hear that she *might* be in ESB. You know that scene where Vader is in his chamber without his mask on, well I've heard people say that there might be a hologram of Padme and Vader is looking at it and meditating.

I'm not sure if this will actually happen but it's interesting rumour.

You sure he'd be meditating?;) ;)

yeah,

I also 'heard' that they were planning to insert Padme (Natalie Portman) as a ghost at the end of Return of the Jedi and she would be standing with Anakin, Yoda and Obi Wan.

I am pretty sure Portman has denied it.

Have you heard this one Dan?

Maybe technology? The interesting thing is, that Obi-Wan says in Return of the Jedi that Darth Vader is more machine than man, so Anakin's body is going to have to get awfully chopped up in the next chapter.

I do remember seeing in the official Star Wars site (www.starwars.com) that Anakin and Obi Wan have a fight, with Anakin more powerful cause of the dark side in him. Obi Wan then injures him, probably greatly if he is gonna be more machine than man.

Oh and you remember in Episode 1 in the pod race scene we see a blue woman with red long hair watching from a canyon as two speeders go flying by, that is a bounty hunter which we are supposed to see in Episode II or III, what is her name again?
Aurra Sing or something like that. I remember soemone telling me that she is a bounty hunter and can use a lightsaber too. Perhaps she will feature more prominently in episode 3.

There was also the kiwi from Water Rats on it as one of the guards.....the p*sshead from Secret Life Of Us, one of the chicks that used to be on Heartbreak High and a couple of others.
Jay soemthing is his name, and he is built like an oak door he is. The one from SLOU is Claudia Karvan.

Someone said maybe Boba Fett will kill Mace Windu cause Mace killed his 'dad' Jango. According to this link: http://www.randomhouse.com/delrey/starwars/timeline.html, episode 3 happens 2yrs after episode 2, so Boba cannot be old enough to kill him. Maybe Count Dooku kills him perhaps? But who will kill the count, Anakin? I reckon there will be some top lgiht saber battles in episode 3!

Oh and Yoda rocks! Not bad for a little green dude who needs a walking stick.
