I much prefer a 5-0 drubbing to a contest, but even I gesticulated wildly from the couch and said aloud "pathetic" when Root went out.

Hameed is the classic "looks busy but ultimately fails and does SFA" look to a fine art, whereas Burns just looked really poor so they went with the energizer bunny that was missing 7 fingers, a toe, and emulated a 2yo that discovered sugar. He'd have been turfed if he was a lefty instead of a right hander, hence why Burns then got junked.

Then again, English selectors, so for all we know they rolled out of bed, stood up, KO'd a shelf with a plant on it, tried to juggle it, failed, some of the dirt escaped onto the teamsheet over Burns name and they, in their sleepy angry morning pre coffee just submitted that doc then wandered off onto the balcony to be shat on by a random bird before realising that it wasn't the door to the lobby.

Borland. Green should be given as much time to grow as possible. His fielding has been superb and his bowling good, batting will hopefully come.

The man is an absolute genius (even if he is too stubborn with selections).

If this isn't the worst England team in history, it's in the grand final. To be bowled out twice in less than 100 overs, you have to be a special breed of terrible.

The Poms have an upcoming series against the West Indies - it's been a while since the Windies were the favourite going into a Test series, but if they can't beat England in their current state of mind, then they might as well forget about cricket and make basketball their national sport.
