Head could average 60+ for the next five years and I still wouldn't believe he is Test quality.

I fully acknowledge I am wrong on this, but there's no way he should be playing top-echelon cricket for a sustained period.

News emerging from the England camp that they recently tried to contact Novak Djokovic, to enquire about the best way to have their visas cancelled :).

They did try very hard to make his flight, maybe to ask him personally?

Also, were zero chance, even at 0-68.

Burns is a shitter Smithy with the movement of his bat that he was always going to chop on or snick behind witha pink ball under lights in Hobart FFS. Moisture exists and shits green.
Crawley is better than Hadnot, but similar limitations just more temperament to last.
Didit Mowland kinda sucks with any movement of the ball as he moves too much himself. Falls into it.
Root is competent and got a great ball that decided to quit basically.
Stokes basically had one by going "I'm going to counter punch straight to deep leg. F-"
Pope was arsed for a good reason, had NFI about Aus conditions in general.
Billings was brought in as every other keeper failed and decided injury was a nice cop out excuse. Lucky to be there.
Woakes at least tried to not fail but his bowling suffered by him having to play a batter.
Wood is good 50% of the time, other times he also breaks mentally and physically.
Robinson I literally have NFI on, seamer, spinner, bloke that gets tired when he sees his own reflection?
Broad screaming Jimmy has a better defense for his antics.

Soon as one of them fell, Dawid was always going to look iffy and fail as he does not want be here and has scratched in every match he's played, was really a Root and Stokes or nada chase at that point and soon as Root got the Boland bounce, they were cactus. It's like we largely dropped a bloke that took a michelle , brought in a bloke that then took 6-7 and the English had zero "downtime" to pile runs on, whereas we had largely Woakes, forced out their would be "spinner" immediately and chopped and changed their bowling line up depending on who was healthy. Was always on a hiding to nothing.

Great thread The Greatest Ava a great place to talk cricket.
Hear hear. Hopefully next summer, we can have some competitive cricket to discuss - after South Africa demolished the Indians, I reckon we might be half a chance.

Looking forward to Pakistan actually, their bowling more than likely will test us, but yes, much nicer pace than the actual cricket board, so great idea indeed.

Very much an armchair sports fan though I did join a cricket club when I was in Australia. I'll watch the F1 this weekend for one the first times this season, it looks like an exciting finish.

Without getting into the debate on whether it's a sport, I'm watching the World Chess Championships atm.
It's more of a sport than the F1 you mentioned.

In a overnight statement from the England Cricket Board, they've announced that Novak Djokovic has been appointed as their new batting coach. A spokesman said, "We acknowledge that Novak doesn't have a cricket background, but it took Australia 2 weeks to get him out, so that can't be ignored."

I do not give a rats backside about the ICC and its dismal rules and even less for the standards set by other countries.

IMO Sniffy, the FTB Slogger and Bannedcroft should have never played First Class Cricket again. The three got off lightly. Sniffy's appointment as vc showed CA expect fans to have the memory of goldfish.

So the rules which govern cricket are no longer applicable because you said so? Righto. What happened was very disappointing but hardly worthy of players being banned for 9-12 months let alone not playing first class cricket again.

Embarrassing that someone would even suggest that players not play cricket again because they rubbed paper on a ball. We've got people being banned for lesser timeframes for more serious offences but rubbing paper on a ball is sacrilege? Okay bud. As mentioned before, trial by media at its finest and certain sections of the public lapped it up because it was in their face each day.

As Smith is also generally in the cordon, it's mostly he's in great position for it, as well as Carey who obviously wasn't VC since newer debut. Odd flex to query the VC status I'd have thought. They've all mostly experience leading Shield teams, AUS A, AUS and county or franchises as if you don't involve such experience in the moments.

Completely agree. He's vice captain, has experience and has a good view of the game from the slip cordon. Some people just don't have a clue about the game unfortunately.

Will not return the insult.

Smith should not be vc.

I just don't understand the over the top reaction to sand paper gate.
It is a fairly minor offence, that rarely works with a well tested stipulated penalty.
In Cape town the tampering was more glaring, but also didn't work, the umpires checked the ball and didn't change it. The batsman continued to whack it around.
Woakes used his finger nail to pick at the seam in the last test and the ball was actually changed. He did it in front of the umpire who reminded him that you can't do that. The ba was later changed. That is (although less nefarious) actually worse tampering.

Not to mention Shahid wanting to taste leather.

2 whole T20's he sat out, just 2.

I see the aftermath of England's Ashes disaster has continued - they've just been dismissed for 103 in a T20 against the West Indies.

And they won by 1 run today 171 v 170. Sad that it's only the Windies who aren't much chop really for the english to win something, anything really. Especially since in the last over there was a non call wide to tie it.

Robbed.

Pommy pain continues in the women's Ashes Test. They put us in, and had us struggling at 3 for 43. No more wickets since - now 3 for 186.
Their batting is equally as poor. 6/120 at tea.

Heather Knight is their Joe Root - she's got around half their score. Without her, they would have followed on by now.

Looks like she'll do what Root couldn't - a century in Australia.
