That can't be right. It was 2-2 in 2019. He must mean series in Australia.

And even including 2010-11 it's still a pretty dominant record.
You're right - I was about to correct my post, but you beat me to it.

Just goes to show that we've had some pretty exceptional bowlers in that time.

Partly that, and partly the fact that Pommy batsmen couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag. Apart from Root and to a lesser extent Malan, they have no clue how to construct an innings.

Crickbuzz had an excellent article on the English batters and how the Duke ball is allowing them to get away with real flaws in their technique.

And it wasn't too long ago that we were complaining that our bats were struggling to build an innings. It is cyclical but white ball cricket can take a fair bit of the blame.

I think his time was up as a player but the way they humiliated him and his wife was terrible.
He was a hail Mary selection at the time. He was rarely first choice keeper for Tassie from about 2009. I know there was some injuries in there, but regularly, he was available overlooked or played as a bat only.
The whole line that he was the best gloveman in the country was imo never true.

Just got a text from a mate: excluding the 2010/11 Ashes, over the last 5 Ashes series the ledger is 21 wins to Australia, and 1 to England. And by the end of this series, it'll probably be 23-1.
They have won 6 times in Aus since Gatting's team won here in 87 (or whenever that was)
3 were in the series they won.

Couldn’t agree more. Just because the current punishment is 2 match ban, doesn’t make that the fair outcome.
How so?
The crime and punishment are specifically prescribed.
It isn't rare, people are charged with ball tampering all the time.
In this case they were unsuccessful in altering the ball.
They didn't change it after it was done.
In 2005 the entire English team systematically conspired to alter the ball using mints ( a foreign substance bought onto the field specifically to change the ball), and it actually worked..they gave those guys MBE's.
Atherton used sand, Trescothic a zipper, Faf du Plessis done twice since sand paper gate, still captain.
The most over the top punishment in history.
I've heard blatant cheating etc etc. There is a million examples of it that was punished much more lenient.

So, Steve Smith spends 55 minutes in a lift. The internet reacts "If it was an English batter he'd have been out sooner".

It's a gift that keeps on giving.

I am an addict of the Guardian Articles that have comments from punters. The humour is outstanding. No-one loses like the English.

Yes, they surely have a knack for self depreciation/flagellation/disembowelling that is greater than any other nationality I know.

Travis Head out of the Sydney Test with COVID-19.
Well, we know the history with left handed SA batsmen - once out of the team they rarely return.

Can he still play for the Strikers? Our premier is pretending covid isn't a thing here in SA anyway.
20 000 people at the game tonight? What could possibly go wrong?

I'm imaging that he was chatting with the English medicos at the time, scrambling occurred and they have to look at South Africa for any expats close enough to fly in to fill the batting gaps, say, 8 blokes and here's 3-2 "suddenly".

Instead, welcome Josh to emulate Manou's tenure in the team.

It feels like you’re assuming I think the punishment should be greater because they were Australian. Which I’ve said earlier is wrong, I think the punishment should be more substantial than a 2 match ban for all players committing the same offense across the sport.

You brought up some examples yourself, but if the AFL, Cycling, Swimming, Olympic associations all have greater punishments than 2 games off.

Should the Aussies increased penalty have been so harsh? I think so, but only because I they all should have to face a similar fate, Aussie, English or other. Should the others caught and not fined (or fined only 2 matches) been given a worse fare absolutely?

The councils have the power to change the rules and should do so. Why is a mobile phone fine in excess of $1000? The deterrent suits the offense. 2 game bans to win an Ashes series or other is nowhere near enough of a harsh enough penalty to prevent the offense.

54 Test ducks for England in 2021...equals their own world record.:drunk:
Rory Burns' missus apparently rings the dressing room quite regularly. When she asks to speak to him, and is told that he's currently batting, she says, "That's OK - I'll hold."

Ah, the Frank Hardy joke about Bert Ironmonger. Gets reborn every generation. Still worth a chuckle.

Strikers maintaining the great record expected of South Australian cricket teams.
Maybe they should play the Poms - could be a tight battle......

Mix it with the Stars to build hype as well as expectation to crash and burn horribly instead of just the latter so people actually turn up to watch it.

****. I legitimately thought the cricket started today. I had planned things around this. Now I find out it doesn't start until Wednesday. ****ing hell.

I cracked the sads a few years ago when they moved the Sydney Test from the 2nd to the 3rd, but this is just outrageous.
