Just very, very frustrating!

My shoulder has been really sore since last Friday when I must have done something playing basketball. :(

I haven't seen a quack yet, as I thought it was just sore and would bugger off, but it has got more painful, and I can barely bring my arm horizontal to the shoulder.

Should I see a quack, or bide my time and hope it goes away?

Also, any pain relieving tips would be appreciated!

A shoulder injury eh? I could advise something you can do, but I'd probably be kicked off bigfooty for mentioning it! :p

Jesus Hitters, your always injuring yourself or getting over an old injury. Might be time you listened to your body and got yourself off to the old folks home. ;)

 :D

Nah Daniel, my wrist is fine! :p

By the way Frank, my knee is coming along I think. I had a kick last night and it actually didn't hurt much at all, so maybe the knee is finally recovering fully. Too bad I couldn't mark overhead because of my shoulder. :( :D

Hitman,

You should have put ice on it that night, followed by heat. Too late for the ice now, but not the heat. The heat will cause the vascular network in your shoulder to expand and draw away edematous fluids out of the area (the edema is aggravating the nerves and swelling any torn muscle tissue and thus adding to the pain.)

If you see a Doc, best he is going to do is prescribe Tylenol 3 - not the good analgesics you are actually wanting. He may also give you an anti-inflammatory. The anti-inflammatory is you paying money for a drug which will do the same thing as a good night sleep with a heating pad.

The rest of your pain is caused by muscle strain which should subside gradually over the next few days. If you still have decreased motion in your shoulder after a week, then go see a Doc. For the love of God, I hope you aren't talking about a chiropracter when you say "quack." They ARE quacks, and with them, you won't even get the Tylenol. :(

Hope you get better - Peace,

Mooster
