I am conflicted

On the one hand we have a bus load of injuries , most of which are starting 22 players so dont be too hard on them..
but
On the other hand, Ive got this sneaking suspicion that these efforts.. well these lack of efforts like last night against Sydney and Brisbane are like some sort of claryfing of position, an awakening of an awareness , a revalation that we arent really good enough
but
On the other hand, how can any side win with their CHB,CHF,their two best ruckmen and a handfull of quality on ballers all not playing..
but
On the other hand, what about the players we did have in the side. Some are in our best yet they look totally deviod of impact and what about the others. The depth of our list must resemble the the toddlers pool at Eastern Beach, It looks deep enough untill you dive into it and then whack .. you find ..its not that deep..
but
On the other hand guys like Chambers and Rahilly give their all , what more could you ask...
but
On the other hand, is it too much to ask for the guys on our list to have more than attitude to offer..
but
On the Other hand, stuffed If I know.
With our full list we are a half decent side that can hold its head up high against all but without all guns in we are well short of whats needed. Do we have enough class in reserve? Is it a symptom of the well know lack of gun early pick, What the hell are we going to get out this year if we dont get some form back , Three Fifths of bugger all and a lousy pick is about what we are on track for and that is way short of what I was thinking a while ago.

So on the other hand , I sure hope Bomber knows cause right now right now all I'm getting is an very blurred picture of where the hell we are

5 years of rebuilding and this is what we get!

At the start of the year many people predicted if Geelong have there full side in we can go all the way and well obviously that hasnt happened. Yes, indeed injuries do not help, but what club doesnt?? But then with all injuries we have let Lonergon, Egan, Byrnes, Thurley, Tenace, Chambers and Blake all get runs so i couldnt complain with allt hose guys getting a go. In this point in time, Geelong is on the crossroads for the season. As i see it, 2 things can happen: 1) We get players back, play like we did early in the year and make top 4 and get a home final OR 2) Fall back in the pack, and waste this year. I think we all would like to see choice number one occur and i am sure that in a few weeks we will have played like hell and be right back in it again.

And thats my two cents.

We're 3rd in a year in which our list still hasnt peaked, following up from a Prelim Final last year.

We've a massive injury list, but a fair run home.

Top 4 still a great chance, and if we get our team back come finals, i reckon we could go for the flag.

It's really your last month of the H&A seaon that will determine where you finish. There are a handful of "8-point games" in that period.

If you guys can tread water for the next 3 weeks and get a few players back, you should be able to build some momentum going into the finals.

As I said, it's your last month that is particularly tough, and you'll need to have rediscovered your best footy by then if you have top 4 aspirations.

I wouldn't panic just yet. If you've got those injured players back by R18 I'd back you to finish 3rd or 4th. Adelaide are looking pretty strong so I'm not sure you'll crack top 2.

Remenber after the Melbourne loss, most people were saying Geelong isnt the real deal, and a few even said we wouldnt make top 8? Well 2 weeks later everyone had seemed to of forgotten about that. Im sure the same will happen this time

The thing that worries me is that even when our injured players come back they will be underdone and lacking match fitness which could mean dropping more games and slipping down the 8.

One positive for me though is that I think we're learning a lot about the depth of our talent pool. We're finding out the some players are going to be good players for us, some aren't up to it just yet and some aren't up to it full stop!

A huge few weeks coming up - very important to get some confidence playing against good sides. If we can't get some momentum going into the finals then we'll only be making up the numbers anyway.

if it wasnt such an even year id say we are just about gone. but it is a blody even year so there is no way i will right us off.
we are still 3rd on the ladder and have half a team to come back. like what has been mentioned rounds 18-22 then finals is the time that we will have to peak and play our best footy. if we fail to gain momentum at the end of the year thats when i will say were gone.

Top 4 is still easily gettable. In the next month we should have 90% of our list back (baring any other new injury and Monica with his Knee). THis should give us time to run into form at Home & Telstra and no away trips. The comp is very even and most others amongst us play each other in tough matches. We have WCE, DEES, RICH all at home Saints at Tel. If we win 3 of those we are close to top 4 anyway, add the Dogs and Dons (if we have some f our Kpp back) we are still looking Ok.

Dont give up just yet

4 games at SS
3 games at TD

If we could get Ottens King Ling back this week, I think we could win all our remaining games. If we don't get any more injuries.
