Should not be at our club. Has had a fair few chances now to prove how good he is, and just doesn't cut it at senior level. Anyone agree that we would be better off without him?

His form in the practice games has been poor. Same poor kicking and decision making. Lacks urgency and concerntration. I see Bannister as a chance of stepping up and all the others we have been talking about for a while as not improving and being right in the gun when the hard decisions are made at the end of this year

He's got talent but has had more than enough opportunites. His VFL suspension should have been the last straw IMO.

He was probably another player still on a 2 year contract. Besides, there was no point in delisting him last year. This year will have a much better draft, and I suspect Denis is keen to have a good stock of draft picks prepared.

We'll be without him for the first 4 games thanks to his suspension. Means he's giving others a bit of a head start & will be up against it to make it up.

Aside from the fact he is on his last legs, does anyone know why he is behaving like this.

Is he another Fraser Brown in the making ?

I think Davies, like a hand full of others only survived the chop last season as there were others who had to go first and due to their contracts. it is time for someone else to be given a chance instead of Davies.

I believe Chambers, Wiggins, Longmuir, Prendergast and Davies have to go at the end of the season.

Livingston, Teague, Bannister, Bryan, Sporn, Smith and Batson are all probably playing for their careers this season. De Luca should be too, but he somehow got a two year contract extension.

Nobody got paid last year and nobody will get paid out this year. So only players with 1 year left to go will be under pressure to keep there place. The difference is this year that there are a lot of players who are up for renewal who are on the frings and we have a lot more say in who we want kept and who we do not.

Off the top of my head thats

Davies
Livo
Bryan
Longmuir
Chambers
Sporn
Bannister
Prenda
Wiggins

at least. Houlihan also comes out of contract as well as Kouta and the blokes from the 2004 draft. Sign all them up (Blackers, Harts and JR).

I presume you mean paid out. I'm sure our finaces aren't that great that we can afford to pay players out for them to do nothing. I hope they're not that bad that we can't pay them at all.

I still think Bannister can become a handy AFL player. Hopefully he gets some more opportunities this year and not just as a run with player. Of the other fringe players listed you'd think only Prenda and maybe Livo (for depth) are a chance of being retained. At least we picked the right year to make plenty of space on the list.

Will be interesting to see what the club does with Houlihan. I've been told he's on a pretty decent contract. Do you know anything about that mojo?

for some reason i think some decisions will be very easy.

Hard decisions = delisting decisons. Just a phrase instead of saying "he will be cut or delisted".

I suppose I better start proof reading my posts these days with the amount of quoting going on. I am sure you got the gist of my post though. :p

He had a good year in 2003. Melbourne were interested. Denis is a fan of Ryan and they offered Houla a big 3 year deal. Melb offered more. Then Ryan has gone backwards since then. His deal is up this year and the club can negotiate something depending on how he goes this year.

The reason I mentioned Bannister before is that he looked really good in the first practice game. Not so good in the next one in Melb but he does look to have improved a touch overall in the pre season. He has good size and some speed and fitness. Will never be a gun but can do a job I think as a tall half back flanker who might be able to play a run with role as well.
Livo has a chance but with Saddington being injured he was still overlooked on Saturday night it gives an indication of where he currently sits in the pecking order at the moment.

Davies has talent up the wazoo but by the looks of it he is just to lazy but then again he isn't the only one on the Carlton list with that problem. Can play some great football when he applies himself especially his marking as he can play above his height. definitely his last chance to cement a senior spot so hopefully he steps up as i think his talent could be handy.
Houlihan has had fantastic starts to the year in the last 3 or so but then for some reason he drops off and goes back to his bad habits maybe he just can't handle losing games and gives up after about round 6, if you think back you will see that i am right, needs to put in a full year this year or maybe he would be better off at another club that isn't rebuilding. Plenty of natural ability but another one that might just be lazy, or maybe he gets the winter blues and should switch to a summer sport, just kidding:)
