Had to happen. Whoever the new coach is I'm sure they will do a great job with:
  • Worst training facilities in the league
  • Crippling debt
  • Lowest paid coaching department in the comp
North won 2 premierships in the 90s with the above.

Sinking to new depths by phoning him instead of face to face it's all class at brisvegas... They are a rabble they should just fold!

He chose not to come into the office so the only way they could inform was by phone. They won't be folding but thanks for your quality post.

Yeah, my reading of the Caro article was that he said he didn't want to come in till a decision was made and asked them to call him with the decision. I can see that.

Brisbane to get a bit innovative and have a Troika of senior coaches working as a collective - Messrs Akermanis, Capper, and Fevola.

Their facilities were good enough to win 3 flags in a row from 2001 to 2003.

Yeah and these babies were the height of technology

Imagine what we would've done with better financial resources.

Hard to see where to from here for Brisbane...Who is going to take the job?

Once the media smelt blood, he was on a hiding to nothing, the standard wasn't much better than the below. He was prepared to blood promising kids and copped bad luck with injuries to topliners. Don't know enough about rumours of player unrest to say if there's anything to it, but it's an easy claim to make

Justin Leppitsch ‘moves the magnets around in circles’ and doesn’t hurt the opposition, says AFL analyst

Something peculiar happened to Justin Leppitsch last Sunday.

St Kilda coach Alan Richardson seemed to let the young coach swing the positional changes by himself.

It wasn’t because the Brisbane Lions bloodnut's dazzling moves cause opposition coaches' synapses to overload, but a sign some clubs don’t respect him.

As harsh as it sounds, that was what one AFL analyst said after watching the Lions’ 58-point loss from the stands.

“He gets the magnets and flings them around in circles, but he certainly doesn’t hurt you,” he said.

At one stage Richardson looked to be readying to combat an apparent move of Lewis Taylor into the ruck, but after appearing to notice who it was, put the phone back down and went back to eating his chicken sandwich.

Sacking the coach was the easy bit but the fact the Board were so gutless that they had to do a secret vote is a disgrace.

Makes it more difficult for someone to leak to the media if they don't know what the actual result is.

Exactly. Too concerned about media scrutiny on their dis functionality than on getting the job done.

No it's just gutless. The board is rabble. Coaches have been sacked for generations and this one was one of the easiest choices in years. Yet the board can't even show any unity in making this decision
