Richmond election hopeful Justin Ridge, an independant candidate for the board, was today told by the Big Four Ticket to pack away his guns and back down. Ridge was reported to have said that he would stand aside for Rex Hunt after the election. "This is just another option for Richmond members, If Rex is available, I'll move aside. I've pledged that." Ridge has been contacted by the Big Four Ticked headed by Charles Macek (who has been linked to the underworld) and Brendan Schwab (a lawyer - say no more) and told in no uncertain terms that he can not do this. "I heard a window smash in my lounge room about 11:34pm last night and someone had thrown a brick through the window. There was a note tied to the brick which told me I had to back down from my intention to stand aside for Rex Hunt. It said I had 24 hours to comply with the message or The Big Four ticket would give me chinese burns until i agreed".
Brendan Schwab refused to coment on the incident except to say that it was just so unfair of Mr Ridge to indicate that he would stand aside. "it's so unfair, after we worked so hard to get Rex out of the way...is that tape recorder on? damn!"
Mr Ridge said he would not back down, and even contemplating moving his family under police protection until the election is over. "If we had still been watching TV when that brick was thrown through the window I might have gotten a really bad headache, or even worse next time they might hit the TV".
