I think we must try to get Sherman at all costs, does anyone else think he could sort of be like an Eagleton replacement?

He certainly plays as outside as Eagleton, but Eagleton was a great kick of the footy. Shermo isn't.

Yeah but he still has alot of time, you never know he may just need a change of club or maybe a new coach.

The only thing I can really remember about him is kicking long goals which is like the Eagle (is that shermo that Im thinking about) anyway what date does trade week start?

Have a feeling you may be thinking about Drummond, who kicked a lovely long goal against you guys this season.

I think Sherman could be a good pickup for a top 8 club. His ability to read the play is fantastic and I think really suffered in a weak Brisbane team this year. Inject him into a top 4 side and I think he could be a very handy piece.

Word has it Richmond are willing to part with their 2nd round selection in exchange for Sherman.

While I do think he could be a good pickup for a club I don't think he is worth quite this much and Richmond could do allot better through the draft.

Sherman for mine is worth a late 2nd - mid 3rd rounder.

But hey if Brisbane do beter then that they have probably done pretty well.

I think he'll end up at the Dogs.

We need a replacement for Johnson/Eagleton and some pace through the midfield/forward line (how times change). Would be more than happy to part with a second rounder or Everitt/Hill to get the deal done.

judging by whats being mentioned on bf,pre & oer the justin sherman for richmonds 2nd pick is just about a done deal, supposedly a re-negotiation of his contract 3 years @ 300k py.

i personally think if thats the case we have over payed & hopeing there is at least a pick upgrade somwhere in the later picks involved !

but in relation to the harbrow role you guys are trying to fill, tambling would be perfect for that role good speed, good disposal & played really well in 2009 off the hbf but was injured & no preseason the hip op in the season, still 24 and over the injury by reports.

another poster mentioned that everitt is looking like wanting out again & everitt +3rd pick for tambling trade would be ok.

just wondering what most would think of that & whats the story with everitt how come he wants to leave every year ! what would his true position be could he become a true fb or chb kpp

thanks in advance !!

You will not get Everitt and a third round pick.

Tambling is worth a second round pick IMO.

to be honest , i didnt think we would get an additional pick + everitt
i would think that something along the lines of
tambling+4th (62) - everitt+harbrow pick(46) i think it is, please correct if wrong.

would appreciate the everitt questions answered if possible guy

thanks.

Your 2nd round pick will be gonza due to father/son drafting of wallis and libba....

Everitt is more of a Brendon Goodard type. He's not a KPP.

Everitt for our third rounder is maybe okay, but I'd hate to get rid of Everitt. Depends how highly you rate Everitt I guess, as I think we would be losing out.

Straight swap maybe enough

Lions have the salary cap issue so are not in a top spot to bargain.

Sherman is believed (on our board) to have agreed terms with us so we can be bold.

Hopefully it is, at most, A second rounder, not our current second rounder.

so with rischas compensation, a first rounder from the GC for Brennan and second rounder for Sherman you guys are well and truly set for this draft at least. Having said that, hard to see you guys making finals at this stage..may ever finish below GC which would be a huge worry

Perhaps he has, but he was in Sydney a couple of days ago meeting with Horse, so he certainly isn't home and hosed.

yeah, I think teh Lions are going to come out of this year alright after a heap of picks in what looks like a good deep draft...even if it does take a few years! I think we will have some solid top 10 picks ofver the next 3 years to rebuild our list.

Everitt is a Brendan Goddard what ?? he isnt even a pimple on Goddards arse

Shh don't you realise if you mention a star players name the same sentence it ups there trade value.

But seriously all I was saying he's not really a tall, as in KPP and i still think he does his best work in the midfield. No where near the player Goddard is at the moment though.

Sherman to me is worth a late first round to early second round draft pick, he can really tear a game open and whilst inconsistent this year, last year he was very good and was one of the reasons Brisbane did so well, in a top 8 team like the Doggies Sherman would be the icing on the cake and be very damaging.

As far as outside mids go he is above Tambling, he has more exposed form and is not soft and works hard.

A second round pick from Richmand is about right, although I think teams may offer higher if they are really interested.

thats generally how it works !

but cant agree with the rest of your posts, perhaps might be worth taking your glasses off & have another look.

I can think of a number of things wrong with the bolded parts:D.

Sherman's contracted. Lions (presumably, listening to the rumours) have got multiple offers for him. Any deals have to be acceptable to both Sherman and the Lions, otherwise he'll just have to suck it up and stay at the Lions. Just because rumours have got him have accepted a deal with Richmond doesn't mean you can pay under the odds for him without any sort of PSD threat.

Well not so true. If the tigers can re-package his backend contract so the lions don't have to help pay his 2011 contract then that gives the tigers some power in getting him under the odds. But with that said, considering this is a compensated draft, a 2nd round pick would be paying cheap I would think...so unless the tigers get another 2nd round pick through another trade, they well have to give up that.

I would think the tigers would be looking for a late 1st round pick for Tambling so they can shop around their 2nd round...ie sherman.

I apologise for my naivety and if this is stupid but I'm confused about this whole 'Brisbane have less bargaining power because of his large contract'... everyone else seems so sure.

If Sherman has asked to be traded but Brisbane originally were prepared to keep him and pay him what his contract stipulated...why would the Lions be obligated to find him a deal paying the same or similar amount? He has decided he can no longer play for the club, he is breaking the contract! Why would the Lion's be obligated to find somewhere for him to get a similar deal? Isn't this he and his managers job?

Unless because his contract is backended, there is a stipulation in that contract that if for whatever reason he wants to leave, then the Lion's have to find a club willing to pay him an amount that makes up for the backended nature of his contract. This does seem pretty far-fetched and would be crazy and quite irresponsible from a Lion's point of view (unless this is something that the AFLPA require in their contracts).

Snuka's confused. Maybe some can clear this up for me.
