Justin Sherman

Reminds me of the Chris Judd scenario where the Eagles were basically handcuffed to deal with Carlton because the princess didn't want to go anywhere else.

Am yet to see one solid source that states that Sherman is set on Richmond.

Or one that confirms he is not.... This is Big Footy not a press release.

So you are saying that in the absence of all evidence, we should assume that all players are interested in Richmond, and only Richmond?

Keep him, I really don't want him at a high cost (2nd rnd) as I don't think he is definitely worth it. Who signed him up to that contract??? His manager is a genius...

Ditto - Sherman is no great shakes. Take him, but only for depth and would want the Lions to pay a fair part of his ridiculous wage. $450k - just unreal

Anyway, we shall see. Houli for next to nothing I can handle, but unless JR8 and Webberley really rate him I'd be pretty suspicious on giving this guy much rope

Just the messenger.

As I was last year, when I told you Raines would be rubbish.

You also said Richard Hadley back to Brisbane would be one of the first trades done, and then Henderson for Tuck & Raines was "heating up".... how'd they turn out?

Every year there is a beedee type who throws out 30 or so trade suggestions and then basks in the glory of the one or two that come to fruition. I remain unimpressed.

Where are you getting $450K from?

Yeah, its pretty well reported that it's 400k a year for the next 2 years.

Regardless, Gubby Allan's contract shenanigans aside, it's pretty funny to look at only the last two years of a three year backended deal so you can pretend that the player is "earning" 450k a year so that you can deem it "unreal". Smacks of an agenda.

Hard to separate the Drafts board from Bay13 at times.

No I'm saying that if you are looking for hard evidence wait for trade week or a press release or interview from a club official.... not a bunch of dribble on BF...

Mmmm....and Judd had two years left on his contract too...

Sherman wants to leave ............................... brisbane will accomidate him.

if he does want to come to richmond ( hope he doesnt) the 2 clubs will do a deal, but i dont think it will be a sraight out deal more a combination of player/picks.

Richmond is on the track of rebuilding with draft picks & wont be trading out picks unless it gets picks for certain players which DO have some currency

Tambling (only if a pick under 25 i believe, if not he will stay)
nahas -25-45
polo - 50+
mcguane -25-40
thursty- see mcguane
rance - under 20(hope he stays)

my belief is a sherman/tambling with pick exchanges will be the likely outcome IF sherman is insistant on richmond.

"Heating up"? No. Logical, though

Bet you wish you'd taken that!!!!!!!!!!:D I seem to recall you saying Hendo was "untradeable" though. LOL

As for Sherman being burned even though he agreed to have his contract rewritten to get Fev to the club: http://www.theaustralian.com.au/new...n-still-mounting/story-e6frg7t6-1225916101372

Jesus christ you overrate your players.

Nahas 25-45? No.
Rance under 20? Try 40+.

Also, please stop repeating yourself with each post. We get you don't want Sherman, so stop posting 361 hypotheticals.

Again you are not letting the facts stand in the way of a good story.

He previously signed a 3 year 900k contract. He did the team a big favour this year in renegotiating the payments so that he took only 100k this year to help out the cap issues. So he has two years remaining at 400k not 450k.

There are three teams interested in Sherman at least. The Lions I am sure will try and facilitate him going to the team that he wants to go to. That team though will need to put forward a reasonable offer because there is competition. Assuming Richmond is his preferred destination but they only offer a third rounder whilst the Bulldogs are offerring their compensation pick. The Lions will go back to Sherman and say sorry Justin we are not getting anywhere with Richmond and we have a better offer from the Bulldogs. You can either stay with us or you can be traded to the Bulldogs its your choice. If he really wants to be traded he will go to the Bulldogs.

As I mentioned previously there are very positive reports from meetings with all three clubs. The Lions are not the ones driving this. Therefore it is up to Sherman and his preferred club to come up with something the Lions can live with. If Richmond were his preferred destination and offerred their second rounder I am sure the Lions would accept it even if it was not quite as high as the Bulldogs selection for instance. With that said they are not in a position where they have to accept crap. Trading 101 really.

I think you are also assuming that Gubby Allen is still with the club. That is not the case thank god. Kerr has taken over (former head of the AFLPA and assistant at Essendon) and will be running things from Melb. Expect a change in attitude from the Lions this year.

Nice little story though I suspect reality will have a few more chapters.

Sherman and manager will go back to the Lions when they are offered the Dogs or Swans as a destination and say sorry Lions but I don't want to go there I want to go to the Tigers. Hence if you don't agree to trade me there I will be happy to take my 400k off you and run around in the QFL for the year.........over to you Brisbane!

Yours ain't too bad either dude.

Like any AFL player would deliberately play poorly enough to be played in a third-rate suburban comp. Two poor seasons in a row and no club would take him.

Think, then type.

edit: beaten to the punch by whataboutbob...

Me too TFB. My response was going to be:-

Richmond's Trading Plan 1.0 - 'Naah, we'll get 'em in the PSD!'
Richmond Trading Plan 2.0- 'They'll ruin their career by only playing in the seconds for 2 years.'

To get something, you really do have to give something. There's just no getting around it.

I seem to recall you saying Hendo was "untradeable" though.

That was my opinion athe time and I still stand by it.

Hendo was nicely placed to step in as our post-Bradshaw long term replacement, and trading him looks to have been a major clanger. Unless you want to throw in with "Crazy Vossy?"

would have thought you would pick up a decent mid who can actually kick well with a first or second rounder. im afraid sherman does not meet certain criteria to demand a second rnd nd pick.

and is it just me but i reckon luke power well and truly past it not just this season but last yr as well.
