Heard K-Rocks call of the Grand final over the summer and it was really good amd got me thinking about K-Rock.

Didn't they used to call a lot more games than they used to and why the drop off to pretty much just Geelong games and finals? There are soo many people that live in Geelong that don't barrack for the Cats shouldn't they at least call Friday night Saturday arvo plus the Geelong game?

It became a bit too unpredictable for listeners to know what game they had to reliably tune in. They only did Friday night and Saturday arvo games if they were in Melbourne, which made it a bit spotty. At least now you know they do every Cats game and a local game of the round on Saturday (or Sunday if it clashes with the Cats). Honestly K Rock calls are a really slick production and hit that sweet spot for purists and casuals alike, plenty of colour balanced with knowledgeable callers.

Geelong should consider themselves lucky, at least they are still in the Melbourne radio market where they can hear Triple M, SEN, 3AW. K Rock's sister station in Ballarat 3BA lost footy altogether and the community radio station Voice FM picked up the odd game. Where we used to have at least five games a week on commercial radio it's down to two or three. Thank goodness for the ABC.

They should just call Saturdays fron the studio if it's not in Melbourne like everyone else (except the ABC) who,are always at the ground

Personally like their commitment to local footy, it adds a sense of prestige to the Geelong leagues.

Is there a community station there that does local footy tho.

In Bendigo for example Frrsh FM calls the local footy, think Huddo started there

Their footy call is excellent.

The less said about their music selection outside of it, the better.

As for 3BA: I can't believe they gave up the footy. I guess it probably doesn't matter to them too much given it's essentially a solus market town (thanks to some clever tricks) but it's still disappointing to see it go.
