Two fellas short in stature but are Titans at our footy club

Would like to think that the boys dug deep and got the W yesterday for Simmo, it was a win characteristic of all of Simmo's fine qualities, brave, gritty, loyal to each other, never giving up, never surrendering. Can't remember the last time I enjoyed a milestone game for our footy club more.

Simmo has been a personal favourite of mine for years. Heart and soul player who continues to flourish despite his age and physical limitations.

The man is Carlton through and through - what this club means to him, and what he means to the club, was clear for all to see yesterday afternoon at the final siren. He loves this club, the playing group love having him around, and of course for years he has endeared himself to the Carlton faithful, something he continues to do on a weekly basis.

Thrilled we were able to get a win for him yesterday afternoon against Port Adelaide. The club put it best on social media - "A victory built on everything this man stands for".

Looking forward to his 300th already. Not sure when he'll hang up the boots, but when he does he'll go down as a true champion of the Carlton Football Club.

I would be surprised if he doesn't want to keep going as long as he can, given things are looking Up for Carlton. He'd dream of having another tilt at success and would convince himself the team could be competing for glory in 2-3 years. Really, if we can add 4 elite mids to the group, and maybe 1 more quality tall, we'd have a good list.
Right now he is playing as good a brand of footy as he ever has. He's got it on a string down back, and working beautifully with Bryne, Doc, etc.
I have said this a few times before, but quite often it is the skinnier, wiry types who have longevity - Tuck, Bartlett, Fletcher, Blakey, Simpson.

I like the idea of Simpson, Murphy, Gibbs and even Thomas playing as long as possible as long as they're hungry and fit. All good teams have experience.

CARLTON defender Kade Simpson expects to play on in 2017.

The 32-year-old recently met with list manager Stephen Silvagni, and confirmed on Tuesday he believes he'll have a new deal in place for next year.
"I sat down with Stephen Silvagni a couple weeks ago, we're on the same page," Simpson said.
"So the contract will just hopefully roll over into next year at the end of the season."
